Finale runtime confirmed

After several shorter installments this season, including episode 7 — titled Like a Keith in the Night — which ran *28 minutes* excluding recap, title sequence, and end credits, James Gunn replied directly to a disappointed fan about episode 8’s length. In a Threads post, Gunn wrote that the next episode will be *”over 57 minutes long.”* You can read his message on Threads.

What counts as new footage

It is not yet known exactly how much of that 57+ minutes will be brand-new, uninterrupted story. For example, recaps, opening sequences, and end credits all take up time. Even so, assuming some time for those elements, the runtime could leave roughly 45 to 50 minutes of new material — which is notably longer than the most recent episode.

Finale context and DCU teases

Separately, Gunn previously suggested the finale would do more than close Peacemaker’s current arc. He teased that episode 8 would both wrap up Peacemaker and point toward the direction of the wider DCU, acting in part as a prequel to the next Superman movie, Man of Tomorrow. That tease can be seen in his earlier comments on Reddit.

Additionally, episode 6 included a cameo appearance by Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, which has led some viewers to expect further DCU connections in the finale.

The season 2 finale is episode 8 and is titled “The Full Nelson.” For reference, the season’s shorter runtimes have been a recurring viewer complaint, and Gunn’s confirmation addresses that specific concern directly.
