Episode basics and early scenes

The episode is the season 1 finale and is titled “The Real Monsters.” Early in the episode, Species 64 is shown still embedded in the eyesocket of Victoria the sheep and held in a small containment unit in Boy Kavalier’s office. During that scene, Kavalier speaks to the creature and says, I wish I could hear your voice, and later adds, The things you’ve seen… Yeah, that really would be an interesting fucking conversation.

Species 64 (t. ocellus) actions in episode 8

At the start of the episode, t. ocellus remains in containment in Kavalier’s office. Later, the creature is let out of its cage, and Atom lures Joe into Kavalier’s office before locking him inside with t. ocellus. Wendy arrives and, together with Joe, they manage to scare the creature away from Joe.

After escaping the Prodigy facility, t. ocellus encounters the recently chest-bursted corpse of Arthur and moves into that corpse. The corpse then sits up on-screen. These are on-screen events shown in the episode.

Previous hosts and a notable earlier encounter

Throughout the season, the creature has inhabited several bodies. Specifically, it previously inhabited a cat and spent much of the season in the sheep Victoria’s body. In episode 5, t. ocellus was shown interacting with mechanic Shmuel; it imitated a Xenomorph call and then attacked when the Xenomorph appeared. That sequence was shown in episode 5, though the actual moment of it entering Shmuel’s eye socket took place off-screen.

Other concrete plot developments

Other factual events in episode 8 include:

  • Kavalier’s backstory: The episode reveals that Kavalier killed his own father and that Atom is a synth created to replace him.
  • Wendy and Joe: Wendy’s Xenomorph attacks several people referred to as redshirts, though the episode does not show any especially important characters being killed in that sequence.
  • Maginot plant: A ceiling-hanging plant from the Maginot facility eats one of Joe’s friends on-screen.
  • Fight scene: Kirsh and Morrow engage in a synth-versus-cyborg confrontation that is shown in the episode.

Season status and unresolved threads

The finale leaves several narrative threads open, notably the future of Species 64 after it inhabits Arthur’s corpse. At the time of writing, the show had not been renewed for a second season, so those unresolved plot points remain unconfirmed for future episodes.
