All 12 Marriage Candidates in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar — Who Unlocks When and What Gifts They Love

Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar includes 12 marriage candidates you can romanc e and marry, and each has clear unlock conditions and early-game gifts that work well. Also, every candidate can be pursued regardless of your chosen player gender, so you can pick freely and plan your gifts ahead of time.
Arata
Arata is a new character added to the Grand Bazaar version. He’s a martial artist who prefers the outdoors and first appears after your bazaar reaches rank two.
After the rank-two cutscene, he can be found in the mountains to the west. Early on, the easiest appreciated gift is sashimi, which you can cook from a variety of fish like dace, pale chub, or bitterlings.
Derek
Derek is a waiter at the local café and the younger brother of Jules. He’s laid back and working to become more responsible.
He particularly likes beetles—rhinoceros, maya, and elephant beetles—which appear on trees at night in summer. Alternatively, he also likes gold, silver, and bronze medals if you don’t want to wait for summer bugs.
Diana
Diana is another character new to this release; she’s part of the Bazaar Review Board and is fairly serious.
She arrives after your bazaar hits rank two and shows up around town after an initial cutscene. While she’s harder to find a “loved” early gift for, she does like cookies, which you can bake with eggs and wheat flour or buy from Madeleine for 459g.
Freya
Freya works in the city but visits town frequently, especially the café. She’s detail-oriented and curious about hobbies.
Her loved items include peridot and moonstone, which are found by mining silver ore and copper ore, respectively.
Gabriel
Gabriel is a gentle artist who spends time painting scenery around town.
We found that he likes cookies, although an easy early “loved” gift was not obvious.
Jules
Jules is a polite tutor and Derek’s older brother. He teaches in the city.
Two of Jules’ loved gifts are chamomile and mint, both of which grow around Zephyr Town.
June
June is a fashionable city girl who moved to town with her father. She can be a bit prickly but is caring underneath.
She loves crafted jewelry: the chartreuse brooch and the black necklace. The black necklace requires moonstone + silver ore, and the chartreuse brooch needs peridot + silver ore; both are made in the red windmill.
Kagetsu
Kagetsu is a mysterious shrine maiden who lives in a hidden mountain area. To unlock her, you must reach bazaar rank three.
After rank three, visit the mountains and look behind the waterfall for a portal to Kagetsu. She likes soy-based items, and the easiest early soy gift is soy milk, available from Madeleine for 119g.
Lloyd
Lloyd is a traveling merchant focused on geology.
He loves gold medals, which you can earn through achievements or find by digging up small dirt clumps around Zephyr Town with your hoe. In addition, he likes magic blue flowers (spring) and certain bugs such as the smallheaded locust, ruby ladybug, and seven-spotted ladybug.
Maple
Maple is an energetic maid who works at the hotel and enjoys making guests happy.
Her early loved gift is cookies, which you can bake or buy from Madeleine.
Samir
Samir is a mysterious newcomer from abroad. He unlocks only after your bazaar reaches rank four.
After that rank, a cutscene introduces him to town. His simplest early loved gift is cooked rice, which you can make from one rice or buy for 127g at Madeleine’s shop.
Sophie
Sophie is the mayor’s kindhearted daughter who cares about the town and its people.
Her best early gift is an herb salad, which you make in your kitchen from two herbs such as mint, chamomile, or lavender.
