Amazon Reboots Luna into GameNight Party Hub — Starring Snoop Dogg as an AI Judge
Amazon announced Wednesday that it will relaunch its Luna cloud-gaming service with a redesigned experience in 2025, adding a new social hub called GameNight and original titles that include a Snoop Dogg-led improv courtroom game. For full details, see the company’s announcement on Amazon Games.
Reimagining Luna
Amazon says the updated Luna is a “completely redesigned and reimagined Amazon Luna that combines innovative social party games with amazing blockbusters.” The platform originally launched in 2022 as a competitor to services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation Plus cloud streaming, and GeForce Now.
Jeff Gattis, general manager for Amazon Luna, said the relaunch responds to customer feedback. He added that “the industry hasn’t done enough to welcome the 100s of millions of people who want to experience the magic of playing games on the big screen but feel left out – those who don’t see themselves as ‘gamers,’ those who don’t want to spend a fortune on hardware, or those who just want something simple, social, and fun.”
Gattis also listed the kinds of questions the redesign aimed to answer: “How can we expand who gets to play?” “How can we bring people together? How can we reimagine what games can be with the help of AI and the cloud? In other words, how can we reimagine Luna so that it’s not just a different place to play games but also a place to play games differently and a place to play different games?”
GameNight and Snoop Dogg
The new GameNight hub will focus on family-friendly social party games. Amazon said the collection will include licensed favorites like Angry Birds, Exploding Kittens, Ticket to Ride, and Clue, along with original Amazon-developed titles.
One launch title is Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg. Amazon describes it as “a human-built, AI-powered improv courtroom game where players invent outrageous characters, spin wild stories, and do whatever it takes to defend their testimonies before Judge Snoop Dogg.”
Games and subscriptions
Amazon said many Luna offerings will be included with Amazon Prime. Through Prime, the redesigned Luna will provide a library of “more than 50 popular, classic, indie, and blockbuster games.”
Amazon also listed some of the streaming hits that will be available, including Hogwarts Legacy, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Additional titles will be available in a Luna Premium tier, with Amazon specifically naming EA Sports FC 25, Lego DC Super-Villains, Team Sonic Racing, and Batman: Arkham Knight.
Release timing and company quotes
Amazon did not announce a specific release date for the redesigned Luna or for when Courtroom Chaos will launch. Jeff Gattis said, “This is just the beginning,” he says. “With advances in AI and cloud technology, we see opportunities to create entirely new kinds of games – experiences that were never possible before. We have an incredible pipeline of games in the works and can’t wait for you to play and experience the all-new Luna for yourself later this year.”
