Ananta Is Anime GTA Meets Spider‑Man — Tendril Swinging, Mechs and Power Slaps in New Trailer

Ananta is an upcoming open-world action RPG from developer Naked Rain and publisher NetEase, presented in a bold anime style. The game puts players in control of four ADP task-force officers in Nova City, and a recent nearly eight-minute trailer shows a wide range of gameplay and activities.
What is Ananta?
Ananta is an open-world RPG with an anime visual identity. It places players in Nova City, where a four-person ADP task force maintains order. The presentation mixes third-person action, open-city traversal, and mission-based structure.
Gameplay features
The trailer shows a variety of mechanics. For example, players can jack cars, use a weapon wheel to switch between guns and unconventional items such as tennis rackets, and engage in both melee and ranged combat.
Additionally, the game demonstrates rooftop traversal using tendrils described in the trailer as *Venom-like*, hacking sequences similar to other open-world titles, and at least one sequence confronting a large mecha. The trailer also alternates perspectives between different playable characters.
Playable characters
The four ADP officers are shown with distinct roles and abilities. Notably:
- The Captain — appears central in many action sequences, including hand-to-hand fights and tendril-based traversal.
- Richie — a female officer shown patrolling at night and making arrests.
- Seymour — a masked operative shown performing hacking-like actions.
- Taffy — a sharpshooter with bunny ears providing cover during a hostage standoff.
Activities and minigames
Outside main missions, the trailer highlights many side activities. For instance, players can play basketball, visit the beach, go skydiving, and take part in a slap-based minigame reminiscent of televised slap contests. In short, the game includes multiple leisure activities in addition to core policing and combat gameplay.
Trailer and footage
The recently published trailer runs for nearly eight minutes and showcases the game’s tone, characters, and systems. It frames the setting with tongue-in-cheek parody elements and an overt anime aesthetic.
For comparison, there is also an earlier announcement trailer that shows additional footage and cinematic reveals.
Development and release
Naked Rain is listed as the developer and NetEase as the publisher. The game is in development for Android, iOS, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC.
There is currently no confirmed release date. Separately, NetEase has been the subject of prior allegations concerning similarities between its projects and other games; those allegations are a matter of public record and were referenced around past titles.
