Angel Reese, a rising star in the WNBA, and NBA legend Carmelo Anthony have been announced as the cover athletes for the special editions of NBA 2K26. This announcement also brings back the popular NBA 2K WNBA Edition, shining a spotlight on women’s basketball like never before.

Angel Reese: The New Face of WNBA Excellence
Angel Reese is only in her second WNBA season, but she’s already breaking records left and right. Known as the “Chi-Town Barbie,” she became the fastest player to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds in just 38 games, while the full WNBA season has 44 games. Reese also set a rookie record with 15 consecutive double-doubles, surpassing Candace Parker’s previous mark of 12.

On the other side, Carmelo Anthony, freshly inducted into the 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame, will appear on the Superstar Edition cover. Melo’s 19-year NBA career is packed with highlights, including setting the NCAA Tournament freshman scoring record with 778 points and leading the 2003 tournament with 121 points.
As a New York Knick, Carmelo holds the franchise’s single-game scoring record, dropping 62 points against the Charlotte Bobcats in 2014. Plus, he scored 37 points in an Olympic game against Nigeria in 2012, the most ever in that setting.
