Apex Legends Mid‑Season Update Adds Bomb‑Making Mythic Flatline and 8 New Wildcards — Halloween Modes Axed

Apex Legends’ mid-season update for Season 25: Showdown brings a big Wildcard Mode refresh and a new Mythic weapon — but it won’t include any big Halloween game-mode throwbacks this year. The Wild Iron event arrives with the Mythic Flatline and eight new Wildcards at Replicators, while map rotations and Wildcard dates for the back half of the season have been confirmed.

    • Mythic Flatline added to Rampart Care Packages starting Sept. 16.
  • Eight new Wildcards arrive at Replicators with the Wild Iron event.
  • Wildcard Mode will run on Kings Canyon, then switch to Kings Canyon After Dark on Oct. 14.
  • No Shadow Royale or Trick ‘N Treat Trios this Halloween; only Halloween-themed Wildcard content.

Mythic Flatline: a boosted Flatline lands in care packages

Starting Sept. 16, players can find the Mythic Flatline in Rampart Care Packages. This is a special Flatline created by Rampart with Fuse’s input, and it has two distinct abilities.

First, one ability turns downed enemies into ticking bombs. However, squads can “defuse” those bombs if a teammate picks the downed player up. Second, every fifth bullet fired from the weapon deals double damage and triggers an area-of-effect blast. In short: it rewards precise firing and creates explosive chain potential.

Eight new Wildcards arrive at Replicators

With the mid-season update, eight Wildcards will be craftable at Replicators. Each card changes gameplay in a concrete way, and they’ll replace the current Wildcards while in the event’s rotation.

  • Good Doctor: Revive teammates with additional health and shields.
  • Extra Ordnance: Carry one extra ordnance (Frag Grenade, Arc Star, or Thermite Grenade).
  • Gren-Aid: Mark enemies who have been damaged by your explosives.
  • Sent Packing: Increased knockback from frag grenades.
  • Shield’s Up: Gain an Epic-tier shield.
  • Stowed Reload: Stowed weapons automatically reload after several seconds.
  • Crackerjack: Weapon instantly reloads when you knock down an enemy with it.
  • Down Bad: Enemies explode when knocked down.

Wildcard rotation and Wall-Running note

Respawn confirmed the Wildcard rotation for the second half of Season 25. Wildcard Mode will run on Kings Canyon from Sept. 16 to Oct. 14, then switch to Kings Canyon After Dark from Oct. 14 to Nov. 4.

Apex Legends senior technical game modes designer Chris Ruvolo confirmed to Polygon that the new Wildcards replace the current set, including the Wall-Running Wildcard. He also added: “You’ll see Wall-Running in the rotation in the future,” Ruvolo said.

Map rotations for pubs, ranked and mixtape modes

Respawn also outlined the broader map rotation for pubs, Ranked Mode, and mixtape playlists for the rest of the season.

  • Pubs and Ranked Mode: E-District, Kings Canyon, Olympus.
  • Mixtape Mode:
    • Control: Barometer, Caustic, Labs, Lava Siphon.
    • Gun Run: Estates, Monument, Skull Town, Wattson.
    • TDM: Estates, Fragment, Skull Town, Zeus.

Halloween plans: smaller this year

Respawn confirmed that previous Halloween modes like Shadowfall, Shadow Royale, and Trick ‘N Treat Trios will not return this year. Instead, the seasonal content will be concentrated in the Halloween-themed Wildcard and some attendant “Tricks and Treats.”

As Ruvolo explained via email: “This year will only have the Halloween-themed Wildcard with some new Tricks and Treats worked in,” Ruvolo explained via email.
