Trailer and plot

The trailer presents Arco as a 2D-animated story about a rainbow-clad, time-traveling boy who is trying to get back home. According to the official description, the film is “filled with hope and optimism for our future,” and it follows Arco as he travels from his future to the year 2075.

In that year, a young girl named Iris finds Arco after he fell from the sky, leaving a glorious rainbow in his wake. Together, the trailer suggests, Arco and Iris “may also be the only ones who can save our planet.” The footage shows stylized scenes such as a classroom of kids being taught with a projection of outer space and another shot of children running while dinosaurs tower over them.

Director and themes

Director Ugo Bienvenu described the film’s setting in a news release, saying Arco lands in a time when “our mistakes (augmented reality, ultra-communication, controlled society, ecological problems, robots taking over human tasks…) have cut humanity off from itself.” He also called the film’s depiction of 2075 an “extreme caricature” of the past few years.

Cast, production, and release

The film’s English voice cast includes Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Flea, Mark Ruffalo, Andy Samberg, and Natalie Portman. Natalie Portman is also credited as a producer on the film. Additionally, Neon will distribute Arco in the U.S., with the release set for Nov. 14, 2025 in select theaters. According to reports, Neon has been active with recent releases such as Anora and Longlegs.
