Attack on Titan Tabletop RPG: What We Know

Panini Comics and Need Games! made the big reveal at Gen Con 2025. The new game doesn’t have an official name yet, but it’s already turning heads. The tabletop RPG will use the Year Zero Engine system, which was originally designed by Free League Publishing. If you’re a tabletop fan, you might know that Need Games! already found success with their original RPG, Fabula Ultima, which even won the gold medal for Best Game at the 2023 Ennie Awards.

Panini, for its part, is one of the largest publishers of comics, collectibles, and manga in Europe and Latin America. Their subsidiary, Planet Manga, holds the rights to publish Attack on Titan in Italy, making them a natural fit for this project.

Step Inside the Walls

In the world of Attack on Titan, humanity is trapped behind massive walls to protect itself from the deadly Titans—giant, mysterious creatures that devour humans. The story follows Eren and his friends, who join the Survey Corps to explore the world beyond the walls and unravel the secrets of the Titans. Over time, the series shifts from action and mystery to deep political intrigue and reflections on war and humanity.

One thing that really set Attack on Titan apart is its plot twists. The ending, in particular, divided fans, with some loving it and others… not so much. But now, with this tabletop RPG, you get the chance to create your own path—and maybe even your own ending.

Global Release Plans

The game is set to be published in several languages and countries, making it accessible to Attack on Titan fans around the world. While we don’t have a release date yet, the partnership between Panini Comics and Need Games! means it’s in good hands.

So, whether you want to rewrite Eren’s fate or just explore the world beyond the walls with your friends, keep an eye out for more updates as the release gets closer!
