August 2025 Pokémon Go Spotlight Hours — Shiny Swirlix, Plusle & Minun, Ralts, Lechonk + 2× Stardust/XP/Candy

Niantic’s weekly Spotlight Hour returns in August 2025 with boosted spawns and a rotating bonus each Tuesday. This month’s featured Pokémon include Swirlix, Plusle and Minun, Ralts, and Lechonk, with a mix of Stardust, XP, and candy-focused bonuses.
Spotlight Hour schedule (August 2025)
Here are the weekly Spotlight Hour line-ups for August:
- Aug. 5: Swirlix — x2 Stardust for catching. Shiny available.
- Aug. 12: Plusle and Minun — x2 XP for catching. Shiny available.
- Aug. 19: Ralts — x2 candy for catching. Shiny available.
- Aug. 26: Lechonk — x2 candy for transferring. Shiny available.
Each spotlight lists the bonus that applies during the event hour. Plan around the bonus that helps your current goals, whether that’s Stardust, XP, or candy.
What time Spotlight Hour runs
Spotlight Hour runs every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 6:59 p.m. local time. Therefore, be ready a few minutes early to take full advantage.
Because the event lasts one hour, players often stack preparations—like Incense or a Lucky Egg—depending on the bonus that week.
Shiny rates and catch chances
Shiny rates are not boosted specifically by Spotlight Hour. However, the higher spawn volume gives you more total encounters, and thus a better chance overall to find a shiny by sheer numbers.
For community research on base shiny rates, see The Silph Road, which summarizes findings from community data.
How to make the most of Spotlight Hour
Use the weekly bonus to support your immediate goals. For example, if the event offers double XP, consider evolving many Pokémon while a Lucky Egg is active to maximize returns.
Similarly, when the bonus is double candy for transferring, clear out duplicates and extra legendaries you don’t need to get extra candy fast. Meanwhile, double Stardust weeks are a good time to focus on catches and powering up favorites.
Finally, remember that shiny availability is listed for each featured Pokémon. So although the rate doesn’t change, the large number of spawns can help you score that shiny if you click quickly and keep catching.
