Avengers Assemble in Magic: The Gathering — Marvel Super Heroes Set Coming June 2026 with Thor, Iron Man, Wolverine and More

Wizards of the Coast confirmed that Magic: The Gathering’s next Marvel crossover, Marvel Super Heroes, will arrive in June 2026 and that it will jump straight to an Avengers-style, character-packed set. The reveal happened at MagicCon Atlanta during the Preview panel, and Magic head designer Mark Rosewater shared details afterward during a press Q&A.

Announcement and context
Magic’s collaboration with Marvel began with a Spider-Man set on Sept. 26, and Wizards quickly signaled there would be more Marvel releases. Consequently, the next set is a bigger jump: Marvel Super Heroes is scheduled for June 2026. The set was shown during the MagicCon Preview panel, and Rosewater discussed it in a press Q&A afterward.
Roster and early art
Rather than focusing on one character like Spider-Man, Rosewater said this set covers “Avengers and Avengers-related characters.” Early art revealed characters such as Thor, Iron Man, Black Panther, the Wasp, War Machine, She-Hulk, and Wolverine. Also, the set centers on New York and includes other Big Apple heroes like The Fantastic Four and S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury.
Young Avengers and Squirrel Girl
The Young Avengers appear in preview art too. For example, Captain Marvel is shown shaking hands with Ms. Marvel, Ant-Man high-fives Cassie Lang, Wiccan works magic alongside the Scarlet Witch, and Hawkeye and Pizza Dog watch Kate Bishop line up a shot.
Squirrel Girl also turns up in a playful image, famously taking down Doctor Doom with an army of squirrels. Rosewater said, “[Squirrel Girl is] both a deep cut for the fans and something Magic players would like in a vacuum.” He added, “I guarantee if you play a squirrel deck, she’s great in your squirrel deck.”
Villains, scope, and limits
The set includes a number of villains as well. Early visuals show Abomination, Loki, M.O.D.O.K., Ultron, Taskmaster, Baron Zemo, Dr. Doom, and Leader, plus an image of Killmonger in Wakanda. However, Rosewater cautioned that the set is not as broad as it might first appear: “There’s lots of things we’re not doing.”
Moreover, he explained the choice by saying, “We have more Marvel sets coming, so it is a little bit tighter than you might think. Marvel is just very broad and has lots and lots of different things and there’s lots of things that we can and will do, but we’re not doing here.”
What’s missing and possible future sets
Notably absent from early reveals are the Guardians of the Galaxy, who could naturally headline a space-focused Marvel set. In addition, while a few mutants appear, an X-Men-centric release also seems like an obvious candidate for future Marvel crossover packs. Rosewater has said more Marvel sets are in the pipeline, so those areas remain possible.
Release details and context
To recap: Marvel Super Heroes is coming in June 2026. The set is oriented around New York and a broad Avengers-ish roster, but Wizards is keeping the release focused because there are additional Marvel projects planned. Rosewater described Marvel as a license where “the roster goes deep,” and the art reveals reflect that depth while hinting at more to come.
