Battlefield 6 Beta Sparks Debate: Is the Fast Time to Kill Turning It Into Call of Duty?
Battlefield 6 is making waves with its open beta, and players are already deep in debate about one thing: the game’s super-fast “time to kill” (TTK). While some love the new pace, others say it feels a lot like Call of Duty, and not everyone is thrilled. As the beta continues, the community is buzzing about whether this speed is a good fit for the Battlefield series or if it’s just trying to copy its biggest rival.
- Battlefield 6 beta’s time to kill (TTK) is much faster, sparking debate among fans
- Players compare the new combat style to Call of Duty
- Developers say TTK will be adjusted based on player feedback and data
- Previous Battlefield games have also struggled to find the right TTK balance
- EA and DICE are monitoring community reactions and planning changes
Battlefield 6 Beta Launches, TTK Becomes Hot Topic
Battlefield 6’s open beta is now live, drawing in huge numbers on Steam as fans test out the game’s new “Kinesthetic Combat.” This fresh approach to movement lets players roll, sprint while crouching, and even break through windows. There’s also a new “Flick Look” mechanic that lets you spin around almost instantly, making matches feel much more dynamic.

However, this faster movement has led to a noticeable change: the time it takes to eliminate someone is now a lot shorter. As one player on Steam put it, “It feels more like CoD than a Battlefield.” Another comment reads, “Like no exaggeration every 5 seconds you killed.” Meanwhile, a Reddit thread compares the experience to Call of Duty’s “one frame” deaths, where players can be eliminated almost instantly.
Why Is TTK So Important?
Time to kill is a big deal in shooters. It affects how much time players have to react, strategize, and enjoy the action. In Battlefield, TTK is influenced by map size, weapon stats, and unique features like destructible environments and revives. With Battlefield 6’s new movement system, TTK feels even faster, especially in close combat. Some players worry that this change makes the game less tactical and more about quick reflexes.
There are also concerns about cheaters who can get impossible kills, which might make TTK feel even shorter for some.

Still, developers know that TTK is a tricky thing to balance. If it’s too fast, new players might get frustrated. If it’s too slow, veterans could get bored. In the past, Battlefield 5 tried to raise TTK to help newcomers, but the series has never really settled on a “perfect” speed.
What Are the Developers Saying?
DICE’s Jac Carlsson recently said, “We’ve done in-depth research on TTK. In fact, in Battlefield 6 we’ll be dealing with complex gunfights and environments. TTK is typically fastest in close combat (where it’s very fast), and the scenes we’ve shown in the trailers are mostly close combat.”
Carlsson added that the studio is using both player feedback and game data to adjust TTK for the final release. “We’ve actually done a lot of testing on the game itself, as well as a lot of historical experience, and based on this experience, we’ve found the most enjoyable and comfortable combat situations for players,” he said. “Based on our own experience, the TTK in the dynamic battlefields of Battlefield 6 needs to be fast enough to keep up with the changes on the battlefield.”
What’s Next for Battlefield 6?
EA addressed the community’s concerns in a recent update, saying, “Time-to-Kill and Time-to-Death have been frequent topics of community feedback. With your input, we’ve balanced damage across the weapon pool and we’re eager to hear your thoughts on how these changes feel during the Beta.”
It’s clear that nothing is final yet. Battlefield 6’s assault class is also being tweaked to encourage more team play, with new abilities and gadgets that can help teammates survive longer or move faster. However, with so many changes happening at once, the final TTK balance is still up in the air.

The Bigger Picture: Is Battlefield Turning Into Call of Duty?
Some fans are worried that Battlefield is becoming too much like Call of Duty. As one Reddit post puts it, “Now, there’s this constant push to turn every FPS into some ‘movement shooter’ of skill expression slide-canceling, bunny-hopping, lasering 1v5s with perfect aim… But that’s not Battlefield. And it shouldn’t be.”
Meanwhile, Call of Duty itself has been struggling to find its own identity, even as it dominates sales charts year after year. According to reports, even Activision isn’t worried about the hype around Battlefield 6, believing that Call of Duty is “too big to fail.”
