Battlefield 6 Beta’s Final Weekend Gets Custom Search and Empire State Map — Server Browser Still Not Tested

Battlefield 6’s final open beta weekend (Aug 14–17) brings several quality-of-life tweaks, a new map, daily playlist rotations, and a new matchmaking option called Custom Search. However, the test still does not include a full server browser, even though the wording EA uses leaves room for one later.
- New Custom Search matchmaking option
- Daily rotating playlists and modes, plus the Empire State map
- Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare and infantry-only options
- Developer notes on cheaters and time-to-kill testing
- Beta window: Aug 14–17 and exact start time
What’s changing in weekend 2
EA has added a few ways for players to shape their matchmaking, and it will also rotate which maps and modes are active each day. Moreover, the beta adds new challenges and the new Empire State map. In short, the test aims to collect feedback on player preferences ahead of launch.
Custom Search: more control, but not a server browser
Players can now use Custom Search to pick combinations of maps and modes they want to play, and the beta will try to match them into games that meet those selections. For full details see In a blog post detailing the changes people can expect.
“Note that this is not a Server Browser (which is not being tested this week.)”
That line is presented exactly by EA. Consequently, while a server browser is not part of this week’s test, the phrasing suggests it could be considered later. Nevertheless, the beta itself will not let players pick servers by ping or specific host details during this weekend.
Daily playlist schedule
EA will rotate playlists across the four-day test so it can see what players prefer. The lineup is as follows:
- Day 1, Thursday 14th: Conquest; Rush; Attack & Defend (Breakthrough, Rush); Close Quarters (Domination, King of the Hill); Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare (Conquest, Breakthrough).
- Day 2, Friday 15th: Conquest; Squad Deathmatch; Close Quarters (Domination, King of the Hill, Squad Deathmatch); All-Out Warfare (Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush); Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare (Conquest, Breakthrough).
- Days 3–4, Saturday 16th – Sunday 17th: Conquest; Close Quarters (Domination, King of the Hill, Squad Deathmatch); All-Out Warfare (Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush); Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare (Conquest, Breakthrough).
Other notes from EA
EA says it is paying attention to long-standing feedback, such as concerns about time-to-kill, and will use the beta to test infantry-only modes that affect pacing. Additionally, the studio is actively addressing cheating: EA reports dealing with hundreds of thousands of cheaters impacting games, and that anti-cheat efforts are part of the beta’s scope.
When to play
The Battlefield 6 beta opens on Thursday, Aug 14, at 1am PDT / 4am EDT / 9am BST, and runs through Sunday the 17th. Players can join the sessions during those dates to try the new playlists, the Empire State map, and Custom Search.
