Big changes are coming for Beat Saber fans on PlayStation! The iconic VR rhythm game is officially dropping support for both PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR 2. If you play on PS4 or PS5, here’s everything you need to know about what’s next—and what’s ending.

  • No new Beat Saber content for PSVR and PSVR2 from June 2024
  • Multiplayer support ends for PS4/PS5 in early 2026
  • Last music pack is Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra”
  • Beat Saber will still be available to buy and play on PlayStation
  • New content only for Meta Quest and SteamVR

Beat Saber says goodbye to PlayStation VR

It’s official: Oculus Studios will no longer release new Beat Saber content for PlayStation VR or PlayStation VR2. The news was shared on the official Beat Saber X account:

“As we look to the future and plan the next big leap for Beat Saber, we have made the decision to no longer release updates for PS4 and PS5 starting in June 2025,” the announcement reads. “Our passion for VR remains unwavering. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and what we can bring to Beat Saber fans who have been on this journey with us over the past 7 years.”

No more new songs, but the game stays on PlayStation

If you’re worried about losing access—don’t panic. Beat Saber will still be available to purchase and play on PlayStation Store. However, starting June 18, you’ll only be able to buy songs and music packs released before that date. The last new track for PlayStation players is Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra,” which got a surprise release on June 5:

Multiplayer lives on… for now

If you love playing Beat Saber with friends, you’ve got some time left. Multiplayer will keep running on PlayStation consoles until January 21, 2026. After that, the multiplayer servers will shut down for both PS4 and PS5. Cross-buy support stays, so you can still use your purchased music packs on both PlayStation consoles. And yes, customer support will continue for PlayStation players.

Community reaction: Mixed feelings

The news definitely stirred up the community. Some fans are disappointed, feeling left behind by the decision. As one user replied:

“Kind of a slap in the face to users who played on those consoles and enjoyed your game. Oh well, your loss.”

Beat Saber was created by Beat Games (from Czech Republic) and bought by Oculus Studios (Meta) in 2019. From now on, new content will only be released for Meta Quest and SteamVR platforms. Beat Saber remains available on PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and Meta Quest—but the future is clearly VR-first.
