Black Ops 7 Beta: The 4 Must-Use Guns Right Now — MXR-17, M8A1, Dravec 45, VS Recon

The Black Ops 7 beta gives players a compact but meaningful taste of multiplayer, and after almost a week with the build we can point to a few weapons that stand out. There are 16 guns in the beta overall, and these four have risen in community consensus thanks to their damage, handling, or versatility.

1. MXR-17 (assault rifle)

The MXR-17 is the most talked-about assault rifle in the beta. Unlocked at level 4, it deals the highest per-shot damage among the ARs available, though it fires more slowly than the M15 and the Peacekeeper. As a result, recoil is generally easier to manage.

Players commonly fit longer barrels, muzzles, and grips to boost range and damage while improving handling. Also, the iron sight is not ideal, so most players add an optic to help at distance. In short: it’s a high-damage AR that rewards range-oriented builds.

2. M8A1 (marksman rifle)

The M8A1 returns as a burst-fire marksman rifle and is effective immediately in the beta. It uses a four-round burst that can produce a one-burst kill at full health in many situations, so it excels at mid-to-long ranges.

For attachments, players typically add an optical sight and a long barrel to extend effective range. Because it’s a burst weapon, follow-up shots are less about sustained fire and more about placement and timing.

3. Dravec 45 (SMG)

The Dravec 45 is the standout SMG in the beta and is unlocked at level 10. It’s comparable to the PP-19 Bizon from past Call of Duty entries and performs very well in close quarters. With the right attachments it can also reach out farther than typical SMGs.

Common builds use a longer barrel to improve range, a stock and grip to control recoil, and an extended magazine to avoid running dry mid-fight. In short, it’s versatile: strong up close and workable at range with proper tuning.

4. VS Recon (sniper rifle)

The VS Recon is a powerful bolt-action sniper that’s available by default in the beta. It’s suitable for both mobile quickscoping play and slower, methodical sniping depending on attachment choices.

Key attachments for mobile sniping include the Quickdraw Grip to speed up ADS, Rapid Fire, and a Handling Laser to tighten aim-down-sight transitions. Because it’s a bolt-action, one-shot kills at range are common when hits register.

Conclusion

These four weapons — an assault rifle, a marksman rifle, an SMG, and a sniper — represent the most consistently effective choices in the early-access beta based on community feedback and in-game performance. We will update this list after more time with the game and when the full launch expands weapon variety in November. Meanwhile, the same basic attachment principles from past Black Ops titles generally apply: increase range for hits at distance, reduce recoil for controllability, and tune handling if you need mobility.
