Bop It Is Back — New Video Game Drops Sept. 18 with 2Mello Soundtrack, Extreme Mode and Local Multiplayer

Alliance Games has turned the classic audio toy into a proper video game. Bop It: The Video Game launches on Sept. 18 for Android, iOS, Mac, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC, and it keeps the same command-driven gameplay that made the toy a staple of childhood parties.
- Release date: Sept. 18 on Android, iOS, Mac, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
- Core idea: follow spoken commands like “BOP IT!” and “PULL IT!” to build streaks.
- Extra content: an original soundtrack from 2Mello and modes such as Extreme Mode and Party Mode.
- Platform notes: Extreme Mode and Party Mode are available only on Mac, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
- Other features: local multiplayer and global/local/friends leaderboards.
How it plays
The video game follows the original toy’s simple, rhythm-driven formula. In short, the game calls out actions and you respond; for example, when you hear “twist it”, you must perform the matching input. As you succeed, the tempo rises and the commands come faster.
Consequently, a single mistake or falling out of sync sends you back to the start, so maintaining a streak is the primary goal. The design emphasizes quick reactions, timing, and memory rather than long-form strategy.
Modes and multiplayer
Bop It: The Video Game includes multiple modes to mix things up. The new Extreme Mode adds SPIN and FLICK commands to raise the intensity.
Local multiplayer is supported too, allowing players to pass the device during play or compete in Party Mode. However, note that both Extreme Mode and Party Mode are limited to Mac, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
Leaderboards
There’s a leaderboard system so you can track streaks globally, locally, or only with friends. Therefore, whether you want bragging rights or a casual score-off, the game provides ways to compare performance.
Soundtrack
The game features an original soundtrack by 2Mello, who previously worked on Read Only Memories and Later Alligator. Instead of mellow tunes, this soundtrack ramps up in BPM as your streak grows, which helps push the challenge and energy higher.
Release and availability
Bop It: The Video Game launches on Sept. 18 and will be available for Android, iOS, Mac, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. Remember that some modes — specifically Extreme Mode and Party Mode — are only available on Mac, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
If you enjoyed the toy’s fast-paced, call-and-response gameplay, this release aims to recreate that experience digitally while adding music, leaderboards, and extra modes for players to explore.
