Breaking Bad Creator Vince Gilligan Unveils Bizarre First Look at New Sci-Fi Series Pluribus

Vince Gilligan’s New Sci-Fi Show Pluribus Gets a Bizarre First Teaser
If you’re a fan of Vince Gilligan, the mastermind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, there’s some exciting news. His upcoming sci-fi series, Pluribus, is finally getting its first look—and it’s definitely not what anyone expected.
- Vince Gilligan teases new Apple TV+ sci-fi show Pluribus
- The first teaser is quirky and mysterious, featuring a woman licking donuts
- Lead role stars Rhea Seehorn, known from Better Call Saul
- Show premieres November 7 with a two-episode launch on Apple TV+
- Pluribus is described as “the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness”
A Strange Teaser That Raises More Questions Than Answers
On Tuesday, Apple dropped a teaser for Pluribus on X (formerly Twitter) with the tagline “Happiness is Contagious.” Right after, a countdown video appeared on YouTube, stirring up lots of speculation among fans about what this new show might be.

The teaser itself is short—just 19 seconds—but pretty odd. It shows a woman dressed in medical scrubs licking donuts from a box, then putting them back, as if on purpose to be a bit malicious. The box has a sign saying, “Help yourself!” with a smiley face drawn beneath. This strange scene hints that Pluribus will be set in Maryland, confirmed by a visible state flag and the name of the donut shop, Sandy Pony Donuts, which operates in Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia.
What We Know About Pluribus So Far
Vince Gilligan described Pluribus in an interview with Deadline as a “grounded genre drama.” The show stars Rhea Seehorn, best known for playing Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul. Gilligan actually wrote the lead role specifically for her.
Besides Seehorn, the cast includes Karolina Wydra (Sneaky Pete), Carlos Manuel Vesga (The Hijacking of Flight 601), and guest stars Miriam Shor (American Fiction) and Samba Schutte (Our Flag Means Death).
Apple TV+ is clearly betting big on Pluribus. They secured two seasons of the show back in 2022, even before the first episode was close to premiering. Given Gilligan’s track record and Apple’s recent hits like Ted Lasso and Severance, expectations are high.
When and Where to Watch
Mark your calendars—Pluribus will premiere on Apple TV+ on November 7 with a two-episode launch. After that, new episodes will drop every Friday until December 26.
If you loved Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul, this might be the next show to add to your watchlist. Just don’t expect a typical sci-fi trailer—Pluribus is already proving it likes to do things differently.
