When and Where to Catch Shiny Eevee
The event runs on both July 5 and 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. in your local time zone. During these three hours, Eevee will spawn in large numbers with a high chance to be shiny. According to research from the now-archived The Silph Road (check it out here), shiny rates on Community Days hover around 1 in 24, so the more you catch, the better your odds.
Tips for Spotting Shiny Eevee Fast
If you’re pressed for time or low on Poké Balls, use an Incense to attract Eevee, then quickly tap each one to check if it’s shiny. Remember, Eevee you’ve already tapped will face your avatar, which helps avoid checking the same ones twice. Run away from non-shiny Eevee and keep hunting!
Special Moves for Eevee’s Evolutions
Any Eevee you evolve between July 5, 2 p.m., and July 12, 10 p.m. local time will learn unique charged moves depending on the evolution:
- Vaporeon: Scald
- Jolteon: Zap Cannon
- Flareon: Superpower
- Espeon: Shadow Ball
- Umbreon: Psychic
- Leafeon: Bullet Seed (fast move)
- Glaceon: Water Pulse
- Sylveon: Psyshock
Plus, every Eevee caught or hatched during the event will know the charged move Last Resort. If you miss evolving during this period, don’t worry — you can wait for the December Community Day or use an Elite TM to teach the moves.
How Strong Are the Eeveelutions?
In PvE (raids and gyms), Espeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon stand out. Espeon shines with Confusion and Psychic, Glaceon holds its own with Frost Breath and Avalanche, and Sylveon is a strong fairy-type attacker with Charm and Dazzling Gleam.
For PvP, only Umbreon in Ultra League and Sylveon in Master League break into the top 200. Umbreon prefers Snarl, Foul Play, and Last Resort, while Sylveon excels with Charm, Moonblast, and Psyshock.
Maximize Your Eevee Community Day Experience
During the event, enjoy these bonuses:
- ¼ hatch distance for eggs placed in incubators
- Incense and Lure Modules last the full three hours
- Special Eevee photobombs when taking snapshots
- Lowered evolution walking requirements for Espeon and Umbreon (1 km instead of 10 km)
- Reduced buddy hearts needed for Sylveon evolution (7 instead of 70)
Make sure to put your eggs in incubators and use Incense to attract as many Eevee as possible. If you have Mega Evolutions like Pidgeot, Kangaskhan, Lopunny, or Audino, catch Eevee while they’re active to earn extra Eevee Candy!
Don’t miss the “Community Day Continued” Timed Research available until Saturday, July 12, 10 p.m. This research keeps the increased shiny rate and rewards more Eevee with special backgrounds, giving you extra chances to snag that shiny.
