Critical Role’s First Video Game Is Coming – Your Favorite Heroes Are Going Digital!

The First Critical Role Video Game Is Officially in Development

Critical Role fans, get ready! The beloved fantasy world of Exandria is about to expand beyond tabletop and streaming shows. After years of captivating storytelling through their campaigns and the launch of their own tabletop RPG, Daggerheart, Critical Role is stepping into the world of video games.

  • Critical Role partners with AdHoc Studios to create a new video game
  • The game will be a narrative-driven adventure set in Exandria
  • Players can expect meaningful choices and a fresh story, not a retread of past campaigns
  • Development is in early stages, with a focus on strong storytelling like their previous game Dispatch

A New Chapter in Exandria’s Storytelling

Critical Role, known for its incredible cast including Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Ashley Johnson, Taliesin Jaffe, Travis Willingham, Sam Riegel, Laura Bailey, and Liam O’Brien, has teased video game projects before. Now, it’s happening for real. They’ve teamed up with AdHoc Studios, a group of industry veterans from studios like Telltale Games, Ubisoft, and Night School Studio, to bring a new video game experience to fans.

AdHoc Studios recently worked with Critical Role on the narrative-heavy game Dispatch, where players build and manage a superhero rescue team. This collaboration impressed Critical Role’s CEO and voice actor Travis Willingham so much that he quickly greenlit a new project with the studio.

What to Expect from the Critical Role Game

While it’s still early days, here’s what we know: the game will follow a similar narrative style to Dispatch, emphasizing player choices that affect the story and characters. It won’t simply retell the campaigns fans already know but will introduce a brand-new adventure set somewhere in Exandria’s rich timeline.

Willingham shared with Variety: “We’re tossing around ideas, what are we thinking about in terms of scope and budget, and some of the things we must have. You are going to want to see your favorite characters.” With so many iconic parties like Vox Machina, The Mighty Nein, and Bells Hells, the potential for exciting stories is huge.

Looking Forward

Fans shouldn’t expect to dive into Exandria just yet, as the project is still in its early co-development phase. But the promise of a new narrative-driven game with meaningful choices is something to look forward to. Critical Role continues to grow beyond its roots, exploring new ways to bring their world and characters to life.

Stay tuned for more updates as this exciting collaboration unfolds!
