Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later Lands on Netflix Sept. 20 — The Bone Temple Sequel Opens in Theaters Jan. 16, 2026
Netflix will stream 28 Years Later on Sept. 20, and that release arrives ahead of the next chapter in the series, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which is slated to open in theaters on Jan. 16, 2026.
What the film is
28 Years Later is directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. It follows the earlier films 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, and it depicts a post-apocalyptic Britain after the rage virus has devastated the population.
In this installment, civilization has largely collapsed. People live in small communities and on islands. The story shows a generation that has grown up after the outbreak, including initiation rites for young boys who travel to the mainland and confront infected people.
Streaming details
The film will debut on Netflix in the United States on Sept. 20. For viewers who missed it in cinemas, this is the official streaming release date.
