Dead by Daylight’s Krasue Gets Death‑Metal Vocals — Her Floating, Entrails‑Dripping Head Actually Carries Survivors

Dead by Daylight has added a new Killer called the Krasue, and the studio worked with two professional singers to create its human and monstrous voices. The character is based on a Southeast Asian folklore figure, appears in two very different forms in-game, and includes new sound design that mixes traditional Thai instruments with extreme vocal effects.

Krasue in the game

The Krasue joins Dead by Daylight as a Killer inspired by a monster from Thai and broader South Asian folklore. It manifests as a cursed woman who can appear as a normal person by day and transform into a floating, disembodied head with exposed entrails at night.

Design and gameplay details

The Killer has two distinct visual states. First, a human form that looks like an ordinary woman. Second, a viscous, floating head that drips blood and organs. These two states are intentionally contrasted to surprise players. In addition, the Krasue can pick up Survivors and carry them to hooks even while in its head form — a design choice that almost didn’t make the final build.

According to the development team, the ability to pick up Survivors in head form was debated during production. “There is a parallel universe where [picking up the Survivors with The Krasue’s vocal chords and entrails] doesn’t exist and the Krasue reforms into a human. But it’s an image that is so striking, we really wanted to make it happen.”

Sound, music and voice actors

Sound was treated as a core part of the Krasue’s identity. The terror radius uses traditional Thai instruments to create a mysterious, creepy atmosphere. Moreover, the Killer uses two different vocal performers to represent the two forms.

For the human form, Behavior Interactive cast Dr. Fueanglada Prawang Carlson, a Thai soprano opera singer. For the monstrous head form, they hired Roxana B.L., a death metal singer who fronted the band Your Last Wish from 2008 to 2023. Roxana B.L. is also a creature voice specialist and has worked with The Monster Factory on other video game projects, including Baldur’s Gate 3 and Cronos: The New Dawn.

Development staff explained the choice plainly: “We actually worked with two different voice actresses, which was amazing. One is a Thai opera singer in life, who does the voice of The Krasue when she’s in human form. When you hear her sing in the lobby, that’s her.” Richard explained. “Then for the voice when she’s in a head. She’s a metal singer, one that can really get that extremely gnarly voice.”

Cultural context and future hints

The development team said they aimed to feature monsters that are recognizable within specific cultures while also introducing them to a global audience. “[The Krasue] is a well-known monster from Thai culture, well, from all of South Asia, really. Even within Thailand, there are various stories about the Krasue – it can take many forms and it’s a bit like our boogeyman.”

They added: “We wanted to make something special for our Thai friends who love Dead by Daylight, something specific for their culture. And we know our fans all over the world love when we feature folkloric monsters from places that they don’t necessarily know about.” Finally, the team hinted that the studio may revisit Thailand and other regional folklore in future updates.
