Demonschool Delayed to Dodge Hollow Knight: Silksong — Now Arrives Nov. 19 with Extra Endings

Ysbryd Games has pushed the tactics RPG Demonschool from Sept. 3 to Nov. 19. The publisher says the move is meant to avoid releasing right next to Hollow Knight: Silksong, which has a Sept. 4 launch, and the extra time will let the developer add content that was originally planned as post-launch patches.
- New release date and original date: Nov. 19 (was Sept. 3).
- Reason: to avoid competing with Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Sept. 4 release.
- Added content: more endings and minigames to ship at launch rather than as post-launch patches.
- Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
- Publisher and developer: Ysbryd Games and Necrosoft Games.
What changed
Originally scheduled for Sept. 3, Demonschool will now arrive on Nov. 19. Ysbryd Games announced the delay on Monday and named the nearby release of Hollow Knight: Silksong as the reason for moving the date. Necrosoft Games remains listed as the developer.
Why the delay
According to Ysbryd, the close timing with Silksong would make it hard for Demonschool to get attention in September. In the publisher’s news release, Brian Kwek explained the thinking directly:
“With 11 years under our belt as an indie publisher, we at Ysbryd Games are reasonably qualified to say that any point of 2025, on balance, has been or will be as brutal as market conditions can get when it comes to releasing a game. Crueler still, that we should find out with such short notice that Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch just one day after our planned release for Demonschool,”
He added that the team wanted to give the game “its own moment to be seen and talked about meaningfully.” As a result, Ysbryd says this will be the final delay.
“had every intention to proudly release on Sept 3. We hope fans who anticipated the game will forgive us for one final delay.”
What’s being added
Ysbryd and Necrosoft say the delay also gives the developer time to include content they had planned to patch in after launch. Specifically, the announcement promises more content at release, and the publisher used this example:
“For example, there will be more endings and minigames that the developers originally planned to patch in post-release, rather than leave them on the cutting floor; now it’ll all be part of the game’s release in November.”
Therefore, players who wait until November should see a fuller base game at launch, rather than getting those extras later as updates.
Platforms and final notes
Demonschool will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Meanwhile, publishers across the indie scene have been adjusting release plans around Silksong, and Ysbryd says it moved Demonschool to avoid the September window.
