Jimmy Kimmel situation and cancellations

Separately, some subscribers reportedly canceled in reaction to ABC’s temporary removal of Jimmy Kimmel Live!. On Sept. 17, Disney announced the show would be pulled from the air indefinitely after host Jimmy Kimmel referred to “the MAGA gang” and mocked Donald Trump in relation to the suspected shooter of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. Critics said the decision followed pressure from FCC chair Brendan Carr and the Trump administration.

Later, Disney said the show would return, though some ABC affiliates owned by Nexstar and Sinclair stated they would not broadcast it. Meanwhile, Disney’s own support site includes information on how customers can cancel Disney Plus, which some people reportedly used during the backlash.
