Switch 2 Restock at Best Buy for Donkey Kong Bananza Launch

Still hunting for a Nintendo Switch 2? Good news! Best Buy is planning a restock on Thursday, July 17, timed perfectly with the release of Donkey Kong Bananza. This restock will be available exclusively in stores, so if you want to grab one, make sure to visit your local Best Buy in person.

  • Switch 2 restock happening July 17 at Best Buy
  • Restock coincides with Donkey Kong Bananza release
  • Unclear if Mario Kart World bundle will be included
  • Supply varies by location and is subject to change
  • Amazon invite sign-ups still open for online buyers

What’s Available?

Best Buy hasn’t confirmed whether the restock will include the Mario Kart World bundle priced at $499.99, the standalone console at $449.99, or both options. Availability will differ depending on the store, and the company warns that stock levels could change quickly. So, if you want to increase your chances, showing up early at your local Best Buy might be the way to go.

Nintendo’s supply struggles have been well documented. Before launch, the company admitted it couldn’t meet the overwhelming demand. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa shared on X (formerly Twitter) that 2.2 million people applied for the Switch 2 lottery sale in Japan alone, far exceeding expectations.

Still Looking Online?

If in-store shopping isn’t your thing, you can still try your luck online. Amazon is offering invites to purchase the Switch 2 or the Mario Kart World bundle through their digital marketplace. Signing up for these invites could be your best bet to secure the console without the hassle of in-store lines.

Ongoing Supply Challenges

At Nintendo’s 85th annual general meeting of shareholders in June, Furukawa apologized again for not meeting demand. He said:
“Currently, in many countries, the demand for Switch 2 exceeds the supply, and we are unable to meet it. We understand that some shareholders have also been unable to [meet] it. As a company, we are working to improve our production system to deliver as many units as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this initial demand, which greatly exceeded our expectations.”

For now, the shortage continues, but if you’re eager to get your hands on the latest Nintendo hardware, this Best Buy restock might be your next chance. Just remember: it’s in-store only.
