Don’t Miss Pokémon Go’s Flabébé Community Day — How to Catch Shiny Flowers, Get Chilling Water, and Double Your Candy

Pokémon Go will host a Flabébé Community Day on Sunday, Sept. 14 from 2–5 p.m. local time. Flabébé will appear in large numbers, including shiny chances, and several bonuses will be active during the event.

How do I catch a shiny Flabébé?

Community Days typically raise shiny rates, and an archived analysis from The Silph Road suggests a Community Day shiny rate around 1 in 24. For reference, you can read that research in the archive: this archived Silph Road guide.

During the three-hour window, spawn density should make finding shinies likely if you play consistently. If you’re short on time or Poké Balls, use Incense and tap each Flabébé quickly to check whether it’s shiny, then run from non-shinies. Note that any Flabébé you tap will face your avatar, which helps track which ones you’ve already checked.

What Community Day move does Flabébé’s evolution learn?

If you evolve Floette into Florges between Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. and Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. local time, Florges will learn the charged move Chilling Water. Also, during that window the buddy requirement to evolve Floette into Florges is reduced to 7 hearts instead of the usual 20.

If you miss the window, it’s likely there will be another opportunity during a later Community Day weekend, or you can use an Elite TM to teach Chilling Water immediately.

How does Florges do in the meta?

Florges is a strong pick for PvP thanks to its defensive stats. It performs well across leagues when built for durability rather than raw attack. A common moveset is Fairy Wind (fast), with Moonblast and Chilling Water as charged moves.

For PvE (raids and gyms), Florges is serviceable as a Fairy-type attacker but is outclassed by many options like Incarnate Forme Enamorus, Crowned Sword Zacian, Tapu Lele, Gardevoir, Togekiss, and even Sylveon. Therefore, Florges is best prioritized for PvP unless you have a specific use case in PvE.

How do I make the most of Flabébé Community Day?

Flabébé has region-specific flower colors. Be aware that the regional colors outside your region will not spawn during this Community Day. The distribution is:

  • Red flower: Europe, the Middle East, and Africa
  • Blue flower: Asia-Pacific
  • Yellow flower: the Americas
  • White and Orange: available everywhere but rarer

During the event, the following bonuses apply:

  • 1/4 hatch distance for eggs placed into Incubators during the event
  • Doubled candy for catching Pokémon
  • Doubled chance for level 31+ trainers to get XL candy from catches
  • Incense lasts three hours
  • Lure Modules last three hours
  • Flabébé special photobombs when taking snapshots
  • One additional special trade
  • Stardust cost halved for trading

So, put eggs into incubators, pop an Incense if you can, and consider Mega Evolving a compatible Mega like Gardevoir, Mawile, Altaria, Audino, or Diancie to earn extra Flabébé Candy per catch. Additionally, there will be “Community Day Continued” Timed Research available until Sept. 21 that grants more Flabébé, including ones with special themed backgrounds. That timed research retains the increased shiny rate for Flabébé even after the three-hour event window.
