Dropout Debuts Superfan Tier — Pay Extra for Exclusive Perks and to Support New Shows

“If you want to pay us more, you can. If you don’t — don’t” — that’s how Dropout framed a new paid option for fans who want to contribute extra. The streaming service and its CEO, Sam Reich, introduced a Superfan annual tier that asks longtime supporters to pay more in exchange for extra perks and to help fund future shows.

What is the Superfan tier?
Dropout rolled out an annual Superfan membership aimed at viewers who want to pay more to support the service. The company describes the tier as offering *Patreon-style perks*, such as extra behind-the-scenes content and access to exclusive merch. Sam Reich, who also hosts Game Changer, announced the new option in a short video shared by Dropout.
Pricing and perks
The Superfan membership is listed at $129.99 per year and is currently discounted to $97.49 for a limited time. For comparison, Dropout’s regular prices are $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year. Importantly, longtime subscribers who joined before May 7 continue to pay $5.99 per month.
The Superfan tier explicitly includes a few named benefits: bonus behind-the-scenes content, a 10% store discount, and access to exclusive merchandise. Reich summed it up plainly in the video: “Yes, spend even more money.”
Why Dropout offered it
According to Reich, Dropout first announced a $1 monthly increase for new subscribers in April. After that news, the company got an unexpected reaction: some long-term subscribers said they wanted to pay the higher price — or even more — instead of keeping the older, cheaper rate.
Consequently, Dropout created the Superfan option to let those viewers contribute extra without forcing a platform-wide price hike. Reich also explained that producing content is becoming more expensive, and that the Superfan funds will help finance future projects. He specifically teased that Dropout plans to expand into scripted and animated content.
Password sharing and Reich’s comments
Dropout has publicly maintained a permissive stance on password sharing. Reich addressed people using friends’ accounts directly, saying: “And those of you on a friend’s account, you arguably have the very best deal of all.” He emphasized that the service aims to stay affordable so it can reach a wider audience.
