The Sims 4 will get a series of technical fixes over the coming weeks, EA says, after a recent update caused save corruption for some players and left others unable to launch the game. EA published a quality-of-life roadmap that confirms the Adventure Awaits expansion will still release on Oct. 2, while the studio focuses on bug fixes and player-prioritized issues.
- Recent update reportedly caused save-file corruption and launch failures.
- EA published a public quality-of-life roadmap and set dates for fixes.
- Key dates: base-game update in mid-September, monitoring through October, and a larger update on Nov. 4.
What happened
A recent Sims 4 update included a change that players describe as a “DLC disabler,” and some users reported corrupted save files after installing it. Others said the game would not launch at all after the update.

EA’s roadmap and priorities
EA posted a quality-of-life roadmap that lays out the studio’s priorities and a schedule for fixes. The roadmap says the studio will spend the next eight weeks addressing major technical issues, including save-file corruption and faulty DLC packs.
EA wrote, “Our top priority is to provide a fun, positive experience for all players. We see your feedback on technical issues and game performance. And, we want to assure you that your concerns are heard. Today, we’re sharing the steps we’re taking to double our efforts, ensuring Simmers have the best experience possible with The Sims 4.” More details are available on EA’s new The Sims 4 quality of life roadmap.
Reporting and prioritization
EA said it is using the community to prioritize fixes. The studio wrote, “We’re investigating and resolving issues based on votes in The Sims 4 Bug Report section of the EA Forums. Player upvotes are crucial in prioritizing fixes, and we’re doubling down efforts to focus on the most impactful issues players want resolved. Each upvote you cast on a reported issue helps us determine which problems are causing the biggest disruptions across the community.”
Schedule and upcoming updates
EA gave specific dates for the next updates. A “Laundry List” announcement with more details will be published on Sept. 16. Then a base-game update is planned for Sept. 18 on Mac and Windows PC, with console players receiving the same update on Sept. 23.
EA said the studio will focus on community-prioritized fixes for the rest of September, monitor the situation in October after the Adventure Awaits expansion launches on Oct. 2, and deliver another major update on Nov. 4. According to EA, “Not only will you see fixes based on your feedback, but the update will also include some new, free content for all players.”
Player reactions and EA’s replies
Some players pointed out that EA has published similar roadmaps before and questioned whether the studio will follow through. One player wrote, “Y’all said this last year as well and then stopped for some reason…” in response to the new roadmap.

EA responded directly to that call-out, writing, “While we resolved a number of issues, we are aware more work needs to be done, and so we’re doubling our efforts,” and asked players to continue reporting and upvoting issues to help prioritize fixes. A May 2024 EA post with a previous roadmap is also referenced by players.
A message to our loyal community 💚
