Exclusive: Starfinder: Afterlight Reveals Blade Runner–Inspired Android and Loki‑Like Undead Companion

Epictellers Entertainment has revealed two new companion characters for the upcoming CRPG Starfinder: Afterlight, and the studio shared concrete details about their backgrounds, roles, and voice actors. The game adapts Paizo’s Starfinder tabletop setting into a party-based RPG, and it is scheduled to enter early access in 2026.
Meet the companions
Epictellers presented two crew members you can recruit, use in combat, and romance between missions. Both characters have distinct mechanical roles and specific narrative hooks that connect them to Starfinder’s world. Additionally, the team provided inspiration notes and voice actor credits for each character.
Lu-323
Lu-323 is an android who previously worked as an elite stealth operative before being captured by a robotics corporation on the planet Akiton. Her voice actor is Melissa Medina, credited for work on Borderlands 4 and Warframe 1999. Mechanically, Lu-323 fills an Envoy role: she focuses less on directly neutralizing threats and more on leadership abilities that bolster allies in combat.
The development team said Lu-323 was originally inspired by Blade Runner, and they also noted awareness of similarities between her arc and other published works. Her current personality, however, is shaped by watching lots of telenovelas and TV dramas, which influences dialog and interactions.
Sterling
Sterling was once human and, after a painful death, returned as a Borai — an undead type created when a fragment of a person’s soul clings to their corpse. Borai are common on the planet Eox, which is central to Afterlight’s story. Sterling’s voice actor is James Alexander, known for Dragon’s Dogma 2.
In gameplay terms, Sterling is a Solarian, drawing on cosmic forces to conjure a blade made of solar energy. Personality-wise, he is described as a trickster figure inspired by Loki and by British secret agent archetypes such as Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond and the Kingsman films. His personal arc involves recovering lost memories and investigating the mystery of his own death.
Other party members and setting
Lu-323 and Sterling join two previously shown companions: Tycho, a grumpy Ysoki Operative, and Kole, a Vesk Soldier. The studio said Tycho and Kole were inspired by ’80s action heroes. Moreover, the planet Eox will be central to Afterlight’s plot and ties directly into Sterling’s backstory.
Release and Kickstarter
Epictellers plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign in October to fund additional voice acting and to expand player character options. The studio expects to release Starfinder: Afterlight in early access in 2026. For campaign details, Epictellers will use a Kickstarter page linked below.
