Final Fantasy 14’s Hrothgar and Viera Finally Get Hats in Patch 7.3 – Here’s What’s Coming

Final Fantasy 14 players, get ready—your Hrothgar and Viera characters are about to get a serious style upgrade! Thanks to new hat technology coming in Patch 7.3, both races will finally be able to show off their headgear just like everyone else. This long-awaited change was confirmed during the latest Letter from the Producer Live stream, and the community is buzzing with excitement.
- Hrothgar and Viera will soon wear visible hats and helmets
- Patch 7.3, “The Promise of Tomorrow,” brings the update in early August
- New main scenario quest wraps up the Dawntrail story
- Plenty of fresh content: expert dungeon, alliance raid, and more
Hats for All: Hrothgar and Viera Finally Included
Since their debut in the Shadowbringers expansion back in 2019, Hrothgar and Viera have been known for their unique looks—cat ears and bunny ears are hard to miss! But that’s also meant their headgear options were, well, extremely limited. Many hats, helmets, and other headpieces simply didn’t fit. Square Enix now promises that, starting with Patch 7.3, these races will be able to display the headgear they’re wearing. The devs also teased that “further support for headgear, including helmets, will be added in future updates,” so this is just the beginning.
Patch 7.3: What Else Is Coming?
Of course, hats aren’t the only thing to look forward to. During the stream (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zg-LRoukGVo), producer/director Naoki Yoshida and global community producer Toshio Murouchi shared plenty more. Patch 7.3, officially called The Promise of Tomorrow, is set to arrive in early August. It’ll feature the main scenario quest that wraps up the Dawntrail story—so if you’ve been following the narrative, this is a big moment!
New Content Highlights
The update also brings a brand new level 100 expert dungeon called The Meso Terminal, a fresh allied society scenario with the Yok Huy, and an unnamed new trial available in both normal and extreme difficulties. For fans of large-scale content, get ready for a new 24-player alliance raid: San d’Oria – The Second Walk. There’s also a new Unreal trial—Seiryu in The Wreath of Snakes—and a new Deep Dungeon, Pilgrim’s Traverse.
Six Years Without Hats—Now Over!
Let’s be honest, though: after six years, the real headline is that Hrothgar and Viera players can finally accessorize like everyone else. No more missing out on cosmetic outfits or paid glamour items just because of some tricky ears! Square Enix says they’re prioritizing adding support for those sought-after paid outfits too.
Final Fantasy 14 Online is available now on Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. If you’re a fan of hats, bunnies, or just great MMORPG content, Patch 7.3 is one you won’t want to miss!
