Finished Alien: Earth? Play Alien: Isolation — the decade’s best Alien game, and a sequel is in the works

If Noah Hawley’s new FX show Alien: Earth has left you wanting more, the 2014 game Alien: Isolation is a direct, concrete option to fill that gap — and a sequel is currently in production at Creative Assembly.
What Alien: Isolation is
Alien: Isolation is a survival-horror game developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega. It was released in 2014 for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
The player controls Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen Ripley, who joins a mission to recover the Nostromo’s flight recorder at Sevastopol Station. The game focuses on stealth, exploration, and avoiding a single Xenomorph that hunts the player across the station.
How it links to Alien: Earth and the film timeline
Alien: Isolation is set between the original Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). Meanwhile, Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth is set two years before the 1979 film. Therefore, the game and the show sit relatively close together on the franchise timeline, and both explore corporate and synthetic-creature themes.
Seegson and the Working Joes
The station was originally built by Seegson, a European megacorporation that manufactured “Working Joe” synthetic workers. Unlike humanoid synthetics in other franchise entries, Working Joes are deliberately less human in appearance and behavior.
One in-game line sums up their creepier side: “With Seegson, there is someone behind you every single step of the way.” The game uses environmental storytelling — audio logs, emails, and notes — to show how Seegson and Sevastopol deteriorated because of mismanagement and corruption.
DLC, original cast, and where to find it
Alien: Isolation includes two nostalgia-focused DLC packs that let players experience scenes tied to the original film. The Crew Expendable DLC lets you play as Ellen Ripley, Captain Dallas, or chief engineer Parker. The Last Survivor DLC puts you in Ellen Ripley’s role as she attempts to escape the Nostromo.
Most of the Nostromo crew in those DLCs are voiced by the original actors: Sigourney Weaver (Ellen Ripley), Tom Skerritt (Dallas), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (Brett), and Yaphet Kotto (Parker). John Hurt, who played Kane, did not reprise his role for the game.
For more details on the additional content, you can view the two DLC packs available on the Steam store.
Sequel status
Creative Assembly has confirmed that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in production. However, the studio has not announced a release date, platforms, or detailed scope for the project yet. In addition, FX has not confirmed a second season of Alien: Earth, so the game sequel may be the clearest near-term continuation for fans.
Where to play now
The original Alien: Isolation is available on modern consoles and PC platforms and can be purchased through standard digital stores. The DLCs mentioned above are sold as additional content, with details listed on the Steam page linked earlier.
In short: Alien: Isolation remains a direct, timeline-adjacent way to experience more of the Alien universe, and a sequel from Creative Assembly is on the way.
