Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Looks Like a Millennia-Old Prequel — Sothis, Crest Stones and Nabatean Clues Point Back to Three Houses

Intelligent Systems and Nintendo recently announced Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and the reveal trailer shows several elements that link the game to Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The trailer and related materials include visible crests, a character holding a Crest Stone, the Heroic Games label in Japanese, and a scene featuring Sothis speaking about being forgotten.

Trailer details

The reveal trailer for Fortune’s Weave shows a competition called The Heroic Games, which is labeled in Japanese as The Dagsion Heroic Games. For more on that translation and analysis, see this Serenes Forest breakdown.

The trailer also includes a scene where Sothis appears and says, “she has been forgotten so soon.” In that scene, Sothis speaks while appearing more aware than her usual young-child form as seen in Three Houses.

Connections to Three Houses

Several elements in the trailer and promotional material are directly associated with Three Houses lore. First, observers have pointed out the appearance of crests and other recognizable symbols; a Japanese fan compilation documenting crest appearances was shared on Reddit.

Additionally, the term Dagsion in the Heroic Games name resembles Dagda, a location from Three Houses; more on Dagda and its place in Three Houses lore is available on the Fire Emblem wiki: Dagda (Fandom).

The trailer shows a character named Dietrich carrying a sword with a twitching Crest Stone, and it also features demonic beasts and a figure called The Divine Sovereign who visually resembles known Nabatean traits. In Three Houses lore, Crest Stones are made from Nabatean remains, and the history of Nabateans, Agarthans, Nemesis, and Seiros (Rhea) is established across the series’ existing material.

Three Houses routes and sequel complications

Fire Emblem: Three Houses has four official routes: Crimson Flower, Azure Moon, Verdant Wind, and Silver Snow. Each route contains distinct outcomes and differing states of key factions. For example, in Crimson Flower the Church of Seiros is dismantled, while Azure Moon follows a different post-war structure. These divergent endings are part of the established facts about Three Houses.

Open questions

At present, Nintendo and Intelligent Systems have not confirmed the timeline placement of Fortune’s Weave relative to Three Houses. Therefore, it remains unknown whether the new game is a prequel, sequel, or an alternate-timeline story. The trailer provides several connections to established lore, but official narrative details and the game’s placement in the series timeline have not been released.
