What happened

Epic Games disabled the Peacemaker “peaceful hips” emote on Sept. 28 and announced it would refund players who bought the item. The move came after episode 6 of Peacemaker season 2 clarified that an alternate-universe sequence in the show references Earth‑X, a DC Comics world where Nazis won World War II, which in turn prompted closer scrutiny of the intro dance.

The show’s intro

James Gunn’s Peacemaker intro has become a talking point. The original opening, set to Wig Wam’s “Do Ya Wanna Taste It,” racked up millions of views, and season 2 introduced a new musical intro set to Foxy Shazam’s “Oh Lord.”

For season 2, Gunn and the cast recreated an over-the-top, 1980s rock-inspired choreography. The new sequence was released by the show around the season premiere.

The choreography and why it mattered

In the new intro, several moves are deliberately stiff and stylized. However, viewers noticed that one short series of arm movements briefly forms a shape similar to a swastika, followed later by a thrust that some interpreted as resembling a Sieg Heil-style motion. These gestures appear in the portion of the sequence featuring Peacemaker (John Cena) and alternate-universe characters.

Furthermore, the Earth‑X dancers repeat similar arm gestures in their segment. As a result, commentators have suggested the choreographer may have embedded visual clues about the alternate-universe twist in the moves. For more on that point, see this piece from GamesRadar.

Epic’s response

Following the renewed attention, Epic disabled the emote and said it will issue refunds as it investigates the intent and context behind the choreography. The studio posted the notice on its social channel when it made the change.

In short, Epic acted quickly after fans and viewers connected the dance to the episode’s reveal. Therefore, the emote is currently unavailable while the company looks into the matter.
