GTA Online Turns Cayo Perico Into a Zombie Island — Fight Musket Conquistadors & Zombie Panthers, Survive 10 Waves for $100K and the Buccaneer Outfit
Rockstar has added a new survival-horror challenge to Grand Theft Auto Online: Cayo Perico Zombie Survival, where players fight through waves of undead on the island and then try to escape to the airstrip for extraction.
Overview of the mode
Cayo Perico Zombie Survival places players on Cayo Perico to fight multiple waves of zombies. The main objective is to survive the waves and reach the island airstrip for extraction.
The event is part of GTA Online and is available through the in-game Cayo Perico Series. Players face escalating waves, and must use weapons and teamwork to reach the extraction point alive.
Enemies you’ll face
The undead on Cayo Perico are varied. According to Rockstar, the horde includes musket-armed conquistadors, Splitters, and Panther Trainers along with zombified Panthers.
Therefore, players should expect a mix of melee and ranged threats, plus enemy types that can complicate movement and positioning during later waves.
Wave count and objective
The mode consists of 10 waves. Survive all waves, then make it to the airstrip for extraction to complete the challenge.
How to start the mode
To launch Cayo Perico Zombie Survival, open your in-game phone and select the Cayo Perico Series. Alternatively, head to the palm tree corona in the Terminal to start the mode.
Rewards and promo details
Players who check out the mode by Sept. 10 will receive a free I Survived Cayo Perico Tee. Rockstar says the tee will be delivered to players within 72 hours of checking out the new mode; more details can be found on this Rockstar newswire post.
In addition, players who survive all 10 waves earn The Buccaneer Outfit plus GTA$100,000.
