RedOctane Games Returns to the Stage
RedOctane Games has officially announced its comeback, and fans of rhythm games have a reason to celebrate. According to a statement on their website, the new company is made up of “creators and developers who helped create and scale Guitar Hero and DJ Hero nearly two decades ago.” Their goal is simple: “to bring rhythm gaming back with more power, more precision, and a deeper connection than ever before.”
What’s Next for Rhythm Gaming?
While details are still under wraps, RedOctane revealed in a YouTube video that a new title is already in the works. The big reveal is planned for later this year, so stay tuned for more updates.
Leadership and Legacy
Simon Ebejer is taking the lead at RedOctane Games. If his name sounds familiar, it’s because he served as production director on several Guitar Hero games, including the hugely popular Guitar Hero 3 back in 2007. Ebejer has also worked as a studio head at Vicarious Visions and as VP of operations at Blizzard, so he brings a wealth of experience to the table.
The Original Founders Are Back
RedOctane was first founded in 1999 by brothers Kai Huang and Charles Huang. They published the original Guitar Hero, as well as the PlayStation 2 version of Guitar Hero 2, before being acquired by Activision in 2006. Now, both brothers are returning to the company as special advisors, helping guide RedOctane Games into its new era.
A New Chapter
RedOctane Games is now operating under its new parent company, Fellowship Entertainment (formerly known as Embracer Freemode). With a team of veterans and a clear mission, they’re set to create “connected rhythm experiences that unite cutting-edge controllers, genre-defining titles, and a thriving community, all moving to the same beat.”
Stay tuned for more news on RedOctane’s upcoming game and get ready to play along when the next big rhythm adventure is revealed!
