Helldivers 2 breaks new ground on Xbox
After months of requests from fans, Arrowhead Game Studios confirmed that Helldivers 2 is coming to Xbox Series X. Game Director Mikael Eriksson shared his excitement: “We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. Cross-play and a rare Sony move
This is a big deal because Sony rarely lets its first-party titles land on rival consoles. Until now, the MLB: The Show series was the main exception. Whether this is a one-time thing or the start of a new strategy from Sony, only time will tell. Either way, Xbox players will get the full Helldivers 2 experience, including cross-play with PlayStation and PC users.
Release date, Gears of War, and what’s next
Here’s an interesting twist: Helldivers 2 launches on Xbox the same day that Gears of War: Reloaded—a remaster of the original Gears—debuts on PlayStation. Coincidence or a new era of gaming crossovers? We’ll have to wait and see.
So far, there’s no word on whether Helldivers 2 will get a physical release for Xbox, or if it’ll be digital-only. For now, digital is your best bet.
