Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding Mosquito Drops First Trailer — Tar‑Mouthed Monster Protects a Beached Thing

Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding universe is getting an anime movie: the first trailer for Death Stranding Mosquito (working title) premiered during Kojima Productions’ 10th anniversary event, and it gives a clear taste of the series’ eerie vibe.
Overview
The anime is billed as a movie set in the world of Death Stranding. Death Stranding Mosquito is currently a working title, and the short trailer shown at the anniversary event is the first footage released to the public.
Trailer details
The trailer was shown alongside other Kojima announcements, including the full trailer for OD – Knock, Kojima’s collaboration with Jordan Peele.
Visually, the trailer leans into the series’ somber and unsettling atmosphere. In the footage, two unnamed characters fight in a classic anime martial arts sequence. One character appears dressed like a porter — reminiscent of Sam Porter Bridges — while the other has an elongated, mosquito-like mouthpart made of tar, the supernatural black substance from the games. That second character also seems to be protecting a Beached Thing, suggesting a link to the Beach.
Creative team
The project will be directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto, whose previous credits include Eiga Precure Dream Stars! and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Production is handled by ABC ANIMATION STUDIO.
The screenplay is written by Aaron Guzikowski, known for creating and writing the sci-fi show Raised by Wolves, which was produced by Ridley Scott.
Release status and other adaptations
At the moment, there is no announced release date for Death Stranding Mosquito. Furthermore, Kojima Productions has said little else about the plot or cast.
In addition to the anime, a live-action Death Stranding movie is in development. That film is being produced by Hideo Kojima and Alex Lebovici of Hammerstone Studios, and it is set to be directed by Michael Sarnoski.
