How to Beat Fourth Chorus in Silksong — Quick Tips to Steal the Drifter’s Cloak

Fourth Chorus is a mandatory Silksong encounter: a giant dormant automaton in the Far Fields that you wake after getting the Drifter’s Cloak. The fight is simple in concept — the boss has one weak spot — but its attacks reshape the arena, so stay alert and use the cloak to move between safe spots.

Fourth Chorus location in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Fourth Chorus sits dormant in the lower part of the Far Fields. To reach the area you need to enter the region after defeating Lace in Deep Docks and move right until you reach the first large vertical chamber.

From that chamber, there’s a small room to the right where Shakra is found. Below that room is another exit that leads to the Fourth Chorus arena; you can see the automaton in the background, but it won’t be active yet. Continue right, meet the Seamstress, and complete the “Flexile Spines” request to receive the Drifter’s Cloak. Then return to the previous room to bring Fourth Chorus to life.

Fourth Chorus’ moveset

Fourth Chorus uses only three attacks. However, they become faster as the fight goes on. Each attack is telegraphed, so timing and positioning are key.

Hand slam

Fourth Chorus raises one hand and then slams it down at a slightly diagonal angle, destroying a chunk of the ground. The hand glows while raised, giving you a clear signal to move. Destroyed ground returns after a few seconds, so plan brief crossings.

Big swipe

The boss lowers one hand to ground level and sweeps across the arena. It pauses and flashes before the swipe. Jump to avoid the sweep, and use that brief pause to jump in and attack the automaton’s face if it’s reachable.

Roof smack

Fourth Chorus raises both hands and hits the roof, which causes molten stones to fall in a shower. Afterwards it often follows with a slam or swipe. Watch for safe zones and use the cloak to dodge both falling rocks and the hands.

How to prep for Fourth Chorus

At the time you face Fourth Chorus, Hornet’s tools are limited. Still, that’s fine because the automaton’s only vulnerable spot is its face.

Therefore, Hornet must jump and swipe to deal damage. Attack during the pauses between Fourth Chorus’ moves. The boss is sturdy, so expect a slower, methodical fight rather than a quick takedown.

Before the fight, sit at the bench in the Seamstress’ home so you respawn nearby. The bench is close, and the run back to the arena has few obstacles and enemies, making it a practical checkpoint. If you need extra silk, there’s a hidden nook with silk webs just after entering from the right-hand room; use the second, longer updraft to reach it.

Fourth Chorus rewards

Defeating Fourth Chorus awards the Servant achievement and nothing else. Clearing the fight does not open a new path and does not grant a new skill.

That said, the Drifter’s Cloak — obtained from the Seamstress after completing her “Flexile Spines” request — is required to progress further toward the Citadel, and the only route back from the Seamstress’ home passes through the Fourth Chorus arena. Thus, while the boss itself gives no direct loot beyond an achievement, the sequence around it is essential for onward progress.
