Huge Kirby DLC Arrives on Switch 2: Star-Crossed World Adds 12 Levels, New Mouthful Modes and a Punishing Boss Rush

Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s Star-Crossed World DLC launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on Aug. 28, bundled with a performance-focused Switch 2 upgrade for the base game. The add‑on is a Switch 2 exclusive and adds new levels, new Mouthful Mode forms, a boss rush option, and collectible figurines.
What is included
The Star-Crossed World upgrade adds 12 new levels, three new Mouthful Mode forms, a new boss rush mode, and additional collectible figurines. It is sold as part of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land and includes a performance boost for the base game on Switch 2.
Story and level changes
In the new story content, a meteor crashes into the game’s overworld ocean and breaks into crystal chunks that spawn creatures called Starrys. The objective in the new chapters is to find and rescue those Starrys and restore the meteor.
The 12 levels mostly remix existing Forgotten Land stages rather than introducing completely new environments. For example, players return to areas such as the abandoned shopping mall and the amusement park, but with changes like crystal flowers that create new blue platforming paths when touched.
New Mouthful Mode forms
Three new Mouthful Mode forms are included. They are described as:
- Wall-climbing gear — a form that enables vertical traversal.
- High-jumping spring — a form focused on extra vertical height.
- Sandwich board racer — a downhill racing form that moves quickly on slopes.
These forms are added to the existing Mouthful Mode toolkit and are used in puzzles and platforming segments across the DLC levels. A notable puzzle in the new content requires players to repeatedly put a set of stairs into and out of Kirby’s mouth to navigate a conveyor belt sequence.
Boss rush and difficulty
The upgrade includes an optional boss rush mode that compiles multiple boss encounters into a single challenge. This mode is separate from the main story levels and is intended as an extra difficulty-focused activity for players who want more intense fights.
Technical and review notes
The Switch 2 Edition of the game and the Star-Crossed World upgrade were tested on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. Nintendo provided a prerelease download code for review purposes.
Star-Crossed World releases on Aug. 28 for Nintendo Switch 2 as part of Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World.
