Hunt Arkveld in FFXIV Now — Claim an ilvl 745 Veldian Weapon, Felyne Mount and Monster Hunter Gear

Final Fantasy XIV’s second Monster Hunter crossover arrived in patch 7.35, bringing Guardian Arkveld as an eight-player trial and a stack of Hunter-themed rewards. Below you’ll find exactly what you need to unlock the fight, entry requirements, and all rewards you can earn — from mounts and weapons to housing trinkets and minions.

How to unlock the Monster Hunter trial, ‘The Windward Wilds’

First, you need one combat job at level 100 and you must have completed the main scenario quest Dawntrail. After that, talk to the Dawn Hunt Tracker NPC in Tuliyollal at coordinates (13.3, 13.1) to start the quest and progress into the Arkveld hunt.

Next, you’ll meet a felyne and follow clues that lead to the trial. Note that the trial requires an item level of at least 725 to enter. Once you clear the normal fight, you can unlock the Extreme version by talking to the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal.

Monster Hunter: Wilds and FFXIV collab rewards

Beat the quest and the trial for different sets of rewards. Below, I’ve split them into normal rewards, what you get from the Arkveld trial, and what the extreme version or trades can net you.

Normal quest rewards

Completing the Arkveld quest (before even entering the trial) gives you:

  • Seikret Horn — item that lets you summon the Seikret mount.
  • Outdoor Hunter’s Grill — housing item.
  • Hunter’s Camp Chair — housing item.

Rewards from beating Guardian Arkveld (normal)

After you defeat Arkveld in the trial, you receive the usual tomes, plus a Veldian Weapon Coffer that gives a Veldian weapon at item level 745 for the job you choose. Importantly, before you leave the arena, make sure to interact with Arkveld’s head — doing so grants two Guardian Scales.

Also, there is a reported chance for the fight to drop the Felyne Support Team Cart mount in the normal fight, which can also be sold on the marketboard.

Rewards from Extreme Arkveld

Clearing the Extreme version gives you two Guardian Arkveld Certificates per clear. You can trade these certificates for high-end items, notably:

  • Felyne Support Team Cart mount — costs 99 certificates.
  • Augmented Veldian weapon at item level 760 — costs 5 certificates.

To make those trades, speak with the Smithy NPC in Tuliyollal (they stand behind the Dawn Hunt Tracker who gave the initial quest).

Guardian Scales: trade-in rewards

You can also spend Guardian Scales at the Smithy for a variety of cosmetic and utility items. For example:

  • Seikret Fledgling minion — 3 Guardian Scales
  • Vigorwasp minion — 3 Guardian Scales
  • Mizutsune Parasol fashion accessory — 3 Guardian Scales
  • Hunter’s Monstrous Framer’s Kit3 Guardian Scales
  • Hunter’s Wild Framer’s Kit3 Guardian Scales
  • Various orchestrion rolls (Radiant Cry of Life, White Wraith, Base Camp (Day), Kunafa, Windsong Village – Plenty (Day), Moment of Peace) — 1 Guardian Scale each

Armor pieces (Hope set)

You can also trade Guardian Scales for the Monster Hunter-style armor set labeled “Hope.” The pieces and costs are:

  • Hope Mask — 2 Guardian Scales
  • Hope Mail — 4 Guardian Scales
  • Hope Vambraces — 2 Guardian Scales
  • Hope Coil — 4 Guardian Scales
  • Hope Greaves — 2 Guardian Scales

Housing items and permits

Finally, a long list of housing gear and vendor permits are available for Guardian Scales. Most housing phasmascapes and furniture items cost 2 Guardian Scales, while some Felyne vendor permits cost 4 Guardian Scales. Examples include:

  • Guardian Arkveld’s Windward Plains Phasmascape — 2 Guardian Scales
  • Rey Dau’s Windward Plains Phasmascape — 2 Guardian Scales
  • Uth Duna’s Scarlet Forest Phasmascape — 2 Guardian Scales
  • Omega’s Iceshard Cliffs Phasmascape — 2 Guardian Scales
  • Hunter’s lodge chair — 2 Guardian Scales
  • Outdoor hunter’s grill — 2 Guardian Scales
  • Hunter’s camp chair — 2 Guardian Scales
  • Felyne servant, material supplier, junkmonger, and mender permits — 4 Guardian Scales each
  • And several more decorative pieces and banners — typically 2 Guardian Scales

In short: get to Tuliyollal, finish Dawntrail, reach level 100 on a combat job, then go hunt Arkveld. Afterwards, interact with the head for scales, open the Veldian coffer for a weapon, and consider farming the Extreme for certificates if you want the mount or the augmented weapon.
