Justice Gang and the Justice League cameo

Gunn said he retconned Peacemaker’s season 1 ending when he started season 2. Specifically, the Snyderverse Justice League cameo was replaced by the Justice Gang characters Gunn introduced in his new Superman film. Therefore, Gunn has clarified that there is *not* a Justice League active yet in the new DCU.

Status of Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow

Gunn stated that Flash and Wonder Woman will *likely* eventually exist in the DCU. However, he has not decided whether they are currently active heroes in the same way Superman, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner are portrayed. The same uncertainty applies to Green Arrow, who receives a brief mention in Peacemaker season 1.

Aquaman and Jason Momoa

According to Gunn, Aquaman is not yet a famous hero in the DCU. Moreover, if Aquaman becomes part of Gunn’s DCU in the future, Jason Momoa will not return to play him because Momoa is set to play Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl movie.

Clemson Murn and casting

Gunn confirmed that the character Clemson Murn is part of DCU canon, but the season 1 appearance of Murn is not necessarily canonical. Since Murn died on the show, Gunn left the door open to recast actor Chukwudi Iwuji in a different DCU role.

Kite‑Man’s fate

When listeners asked whether Peacemaker’s claim that he “took down” Kite‑Man meant the villain was dead, Gunn clarified that Kite‑Man is in prison and could appear in the DCU later. Separately, Kite‑Man already appears in the animated Harley Quinn series, which is treated as a separate canon from the live‑action DCU.

Peacemaker season 2: canon status

Gunn said that everything shown in Peacemaker season 2 should be considered canon in his DCU. Thus, changes and character developments introduced there are part of his current continuity.

Imps, Bat‑Mite and Mister Mxyzptlk

Gunn clarified some backstory about the dimension Chris visited as a child. The species Auggie calls “munchkins” are related to established DC characters Bat‑Mite and Mister Mxyzptlk. Gunn also connected that origin to the glowing, flying creature the Justice Gang fights, which he described as an “interdimensional imp.”

Porky’s, Cheetos and small world details

Gunn said that Bob Clark’s 1981 comedy Porky’s exists within the DCU, but he does not consider Porky’s II: The Next Day to be part of that continuity. He also confirmed that Cheetos exist in the DCU, noting that Judomaster snacks on them in Peacemaker season 2.

Where to listen to the podcast

Gunn discussed these points on Peacemaker: The Official Podcast, which features him along with Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee, plus rotating guests. New podcast episodes arrive on Thursdays on YouTube and on podcast platforms after each new episode of the show airs on HBO Max.
