Overview

King of Meat is Glowmade’s debut title and is published by Amazon Games. It launched for early access on Oct. 7, with some pre-order players getting access on Oct. 2. The game is a four-player co-op experience framed like a game show, where teams run through dungeons to earn in-game currency for weapons, gear, and cosmetics. The game includes an official collaboration with creator Mr. Beast and is priced at $30.

Gameplay

The core loop has players entering short dungeons filled with traps, puzzles, and enemies. Combat exists, but many of the more intricate dungeons focus on platforming and coordination: avoiding spike pits, timing trampoline jumps, operating switches together, and using bombs to open hidden passages. Players collect gold during runs to spend on progression. The presentation leans into slapstick and game-show elements, and the game’s visual style has been compared to other party platformers.

Creator tools

King of Meat includes a dungeon editor that lets players design and publish levels. The tool allows fine control over level elements, including lighting direction. Players can upvote community creations, and the most popular levels appear in a community tab. Early popular creations vary in length and complexity; some are short farming routes while others mirror puzzle and platforming challenges similar to player-made levels from other creative sandbox games.

Early access and metrics

At launch, early Steam data showed a small review count: 58 reviews during the game’s first five days of early access. On release day, Twitch placed a King of Meat banner on its homepage, and the game’s viewer count on the platform rose to about 48,000 viewers. However, the number of people following the King of Meat category on Twitch was under 300, while the category for Megabonk had more than 4,500 followers, according to Twitch directories.

Challenges and outlook

Early reports from players noted difficulty finding full four-player matches on PlayStation 5 during the launch weekend. Meanwhile, Steam activity and review numbers suggest the current player base is small. The game faces significant competition in a crowded release season and must rely on community-generated content and streamer interest to build momentum.

That said, King of Meat’s editor and community tab are designed to encourage user-created content. If creators publish engaging levels and streamers highlight them, the game could grow its player base over time. The short-term facts show a modest start; the long-term outcome will depend on how players and creators respond.
