Shutdown timeline

EA says The Sims Mobile will be delisted from the App Store and Google Play on Oct. 21, and the game will officially shut down on Jan. 20, 2026. Meanwhile, the studio will continue to support the game with updates through January.

In its announcement, EA pointed players to a blog post announcing the news with full details.

What you can play now

For the final months, EA has scheduled seasonal content. For example, the Eerie Autumn Festival and the Cozier Home Sweet Treat Showdown are live now. Therefore, active players can still take part in planned events and new seasonal items until the servers close.

Currency and refunds

EA confirmed that any unspent premium currency will disappear when the servers shut down, and no refunds will be provided. Importantly, the announcement includes this exact line: “All purchases you’ve made before October 20 will still work in-game right up until January 20, 2026.”

Final unlocks in January

As a final gesture, EA will automatically unlock all items in Build Mode and Create-A-Sim (CAS) on Jan. 6. After that date, players can experiment freely with homes and Sims until the game goes offline on Jan. 20.

About the game

The Sims Mobile launched in March 2018 and focuses on customizing and controlling a single Sim family. It is separate from The Sims FreePlay, which EA has not announced any plans to take offline. Therefore, fans of mobile Sims titles will still have an outlet after The Sims Mobile closes.
