Leaked Pokémon Legends: Z-A Footage Shows Bipedal Mega Starmie — It Actually Has Knees

Pokémon Legends: Z-A leaks ahead of the game’s October 16 release show a striking new look for Mega Starmie: the creature appears to be bipedal, with the lower two points elongated into leg-like appendages that allow it to move on the battlefield rather than float.
Mega Starmie design
Leaked footage shows a version of Starmie that resembles the classic jewel-encrusted star, but with the bottom two tips elongated into what look like legs. Consequently, the Pokémon stands and walks in the clips instead of hovering. In addition, the model appears to include jointed knees on those lower points, which are visible when it repositions itself during combat.
Importantly, the footage comes from pre-release leaks and shows a boss encounter in which the Pokémon actively changes position on screen. Therefore, movement and animation are visible in the leak rather than being described in text only.

Stats and battle behavior
Leaked stat data circulating with the footage list Special Attack 130, Speed 120, and Physical Attack 140. Those numbers come from data leaks shared alongside the footage, and they are being discussed by content creators and fans.
Furthermore, Pokémon Legends: Z-A uses real-time battling that lets creatures move around the battlefield, and the leaked clips show Mega Starmie using that system to reposition and use water-based attacks.
Community reaction
The leaked footage and images have generated a range of responses online. Some fans shared amusement and praise, while others expressed discomfort or disbelief. For example, one reply on the X post reads, “I adore this thing, almost definitely going on my team,” and another quote reply says, “Im sorry its the best thing theyve ever made like the most troll thing ever.”
Other replies were more skeptical. One comment states, “That’s not real, please tell me that’s AI or something…” Another user wrote, “Like why does it need to run?” and added, “In [its] base form it can cover more speed by levitating and spinning around! This is major conceptual nerf,” the fan declares.
Additionally, some comparisons were made to pop-culture characters and other game designs. For instance, a few users likened the look to a well-known pink starfish character; others referenced large humanoid animation styles. Some also compared the aesthetic to older EarthBound and cult-favorite odd designs.
For context, comparisons to the unsettling side of platformer character designs have been made; one relevant reference is the Weird Mario page, which documents odd or dissonant Mario appearances in fan discussion.
Pokédex entry
Leaked screenshots circulating online include a Pokédex entry for the form. The entry reads: “Its movements have become more humanlike,” leaked screenshots say. “Whether it’s simply trying to communicate or wants to supplant humanity is unclear.”
