The upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie has finally announced its main stars. Young British actors Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will take on the iconic roles of Zelda and Link respectively.

Meet the New Zelda and Link

Bo Bragason, 21, will portray Zelda. Fans might recognize her from the Disney Plus series Renegade Nell, where she played the sister of the main character. Meanwhile, 16-year-old Benjamin Evan Ainsworth has been cast as Link. His previous roles include Miles in Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor and the voice of Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis’ live-action remake of Pinocchio. He also appeared as Alex Burgess in The Sandman episode “Sleep of the Just.”

Official Announcement and Details

Zelda’s creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, shared the exciting news on Wednesday via Nintendo’s official X account. He expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.” Along with the announcement, Miyamoto posted photos of the actors in outfits that hint at the medieval fantasy setting of the film. However, it’s not confirmed if these are their actual costumes.

One interesting detail is Benjamin Evan Ainsworth’s dark hair, which differs from Link’s traditional blond look. This casting choice might spark some discussion among fans.

The movie is directed by Wes Ball, known for The Maze Runner series and last year’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The film is a collaboration between Nintendo and Sony Pictures and is scheduled to hit theaters on May 7, 2027.
