Lizard-Man Returns: Netflix Confirms Dorohedoro Season 2 for Spring 2026
Good news for Dorohedoro fans: the anime’s second season now has a confirmed release window. After several delays, the series will return in the spring of 2026, and MAPPA is back at the helm with director Yuichiro Hayashi returning as well.

Previously, the sequel had been scheduled for 2025 but that season 2 was later postponed. Still, fans can now mark their calendars for 2026 and plan accordingly.
Background and story
Dorohedoro first reached a wide international audience when it hit Netflix in May 2020. The show is set in a grim, divided world where sorcerers experiment on humans, and it follows Caiman, a man with a reptile head, searching for the sorcerer who changed him and stole his memories.
Viz Media, which publishes the manga in English, describes the series like this:
“In a city so dismal it’s known only as “the Hole,” a clan of Sorcerers have been plucking people off the streets to use as guinea pigs for atrocious “experiments” in the black arts. In a dark alley, Nikaido found Caiman, a man with a reptile head and a bad case of amnesia. To undo the spell, they’re hunting and killing the Sorcerers in the Hole, hoping that eventually they’ll kill the right one. But when En, the head Sorcerer, gets word of a lizard-man slaughtering his people, he sends a crew of “cleaners” into the Hole, igniting a war between two worlds.”
Staff and production
MAPPA returns as the animation studio for season 2. In addition, Yuichiro Hayashi is confirmed to return as director, so the core creative team is largely intact. This should reassure viewers who enjoyed the first season’s look and pace.
