Background: the 2023 game and updates
The rebooted Lords of the Fallen from 2023 received a mixed reception at launch. Afterwards, the game was partially overhauled in April 2025 with a **2.0 patch** that added several changes, including shared progression during cross-play co-op, a free friend’s pass to play co-op, revamped gameplay systems, and other improvements.
How Hexworks is approaching the sequel
“Lords of the Fallen II will take into account all the learnings and experience, building further on everything players loved about the original game, while also elevating it to a new and altogether more threatening place,” Hexworks said in a PlayStation Blog post on how development of the first game is influencing its sequel.
