What is Lorwyn
Originally released in 2007 as the Lorwyn block (Lorwyn and Shadowmoor), the plane is inspired by Celtic folklore and has a strong fairytale aesthetic. It is known for a wide variety of creature tribes — including Elves, Goblins, Fairies, Giants, Kithkin, Merfolk, Elementals, Shapeshifters, and Treefolk — and was the first set to include Planeswalker cards. Lorwyn Eclipsed returns to that setting and keeps a strong focus on creature types and tribal gameplay.
Previewed cards and art
Wizards of the Coast previewed multiple cards ahead of release. Among the notable previews are new transforming legendary Element creatures and a set of reprinted shock lands. Specific previewed cards include Bitterbloom Bearer, a thematic card that riffs on the older card Bitter Blossom, and the changeling creature Mutable Explorer. Other cards shown in previews are Ashling — Rekindled, Ashling — Rimebound, Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn, Isilu, Carrier of Twilight, Sygg Wanderwine Wisdom, Sygg Wanderbrine Shield, Figure of Fable, Deceit, and Emptiness.
Additionally, the set preview included multiple art treatments for classic shock lands that are being reprinted, with reversible borderless versions depicting both Lorwyn and Shadowmoor. Examples shown in previews include Overgrown Tomb, Steam Vents, Temple Garden, Blood Crypt, and Hallowed Fountain.
Products and new formats
Alongside the main set, Lorwyn Eclipsed introduces several new or returning products:
- Theme Decks — 60-card, ready-to-play decks designed for thematic gameplay. The first two Theme Decks launching with the set are Angels and Pirates; additional theme decks will follow tied to Secrets of Strixhaven and Reality Fracture.
- Draft Night — a boxed product designed for four-player Pick-Two Drafts. Each Draft Night box includes lands, tokens, and a Collector Booster to award to the winner.
- Dungeons & Dragons supplement — Lorwyn: First Light will be a setting supplement exclusive to D&D Beyond, launching on Nov. 18, allowing D&D players to build campaigns and characters in Lorwyn.
Booster treatments and collectible features
Wizards detailed several collectible and booster features for the set:
- Serialized borderless versions of Bitterbloom Bearer, illustrated by Rebecca Guay, will be exclusive to Collector Boosters as limited double rainbow foil cards.

- Fable frame cards will appear across booster packs, with a total of 10 uncommon, 26 rare, and 14 mythic rare fable-frame cards.
