Saving Painter Neal: The Basics
Painter Neal is stuck at the pier, and a giant shark is lurking nearby, ready to make him its next meal. Your job is to save Neal by using your skateboarding tricks. The first step is to break the wire that holds a massive boulder in place right in front of the pier. To do this, you need to slide along the wire from one end to the other, keeping your balance as you go up, around, and down the wire.
The best way to break the wire is to position your skater at one end, jump, and start sliding across the full length. If you don’t cover the entire wire, it won’t snap. If this part feels tricky, you can turn on some game mods for extra help—just pause, go to Options, and activate Game Mods. These mods won’t stop you from completing challenges and can be turned off whenever you want.
Push the Boulder with a Wallplant
Once the wire is broken and the boulder is free, you need to push it toward the pier to save Painter Neal. This requires a specific move called a wallplant, where you place a foot on a wall while skating. The easiest way to do this is to stop next to the boulder facing the pier, then perform an ollie followed immediately by a wallplant.
If you want to make this easier, head to your settings and switch the wallplant command so it uses the same button as the ollie. For example, on PlayStation 5, pressing the X button twice will first ollie and then wallplant automatically. This makes pushing the boulder much smoother.
With the boulder rolling toward the pier, Painter Neal is saved, and you can check off this mission from your list. Simple, fun, and a nice change from just pulling off tricks!
