Mega Hawlucha Debuts in Pokémon Legends: Z-A — Wrestling-Style Mega Slaps Machamp to Win the Match

Pokémon Legends: Z-A has a new Mega Evolution: Mega Hawlucha. The Pokémon Company revealed the form in an animated sequence that shows Hawlucha facing Machamp in a ring, and the company also confirmed the game will include new versions of Dragonite and Victreebel.
Reveal and animation
The Pokémon Company released an animation that depicts Hawlucha competing in a wrestling-style match against Machamp. In the clip, Hawlucha is pushed back and appears close to defeat, then draws on a series of flashbacks before Mega Evolving and returning to the fight.
Those flashbacks include training moments and scenes that highlight an aura-like energy. The reveal shows the Mega Evolution changing Hawlucha’s feathers and costume-like appearance, which is presented as part of the in-video transformation.

Bulked up by Mega Evolution, it uses its muscles to take hit after hit from opponents’ moves and flex its own strength. After luring its opponent into attacking, it retaliates to make them flinch before diving at them using its signature move, Flying Press, to aim for victory

The game’s reveal sequence also included new versions of Dragonite and Victreebel. The announcement for Victreebel was presented via a found-footage horror-style video, according to The Pokémon Company’s reveal materials.
Release date and platforms
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is scheduled for release on October 16, 2025. The game will be available for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
