Missed It in IMAX? Ryan Coogler’s Sinners Returns to Giant Screens Oct. 30–Nov. 5

Ryan Coogler’s vampire film Sinners is returning to select IMAX theaters for an IMAX-exclusive, one-week engagement from Oct. 30 through Nov. 5, according to a report by Variety. Warner Bros. has been contacted for confirmation but has not yet responded.
Quick details
Sinners is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as twins Smoke and Stack. The film returns to IMAX screens exclusively for one week, from October 30 to November 5, in select locations. Variety was first to report the engagement after speaking with Coogler at a screening.
IMAX experience
If you did not see the film in IMAX during its initial release, this engagement gives you another chance. The presentation is IMAX-exclusive, so screenings will be on IMAX-format screens only. Notably, the film’s initial IMAX presence was interrupted during its first run when Disney’s Thunderbolts took over some IMAX bookings two weeks after Sinners opened.
Trailer
The trailer above shows the film’s visual approach and tone. In addition, Sinners blends genre elements—vampirism, family drama, and emotional stakes—while emphasizing strong production values and cinematography.
Quotes from Coogler
“We asked him to do this difficult thing technically, playing two different characters, but it also was a performance that we needed to have the backstory that we had before to pull this off. To see him recognized by his peers and other folks in the industry, I know that would mean a lot of him.”
Coogler also discussed other projects and influences at the same screening, including an upcoming take on The X-Files. He said:
“Like my relationship with Rocky with my dad, The X-Files is one of those things with my mom. My mom means the world to me — she’s actually here tonight — so this is a big one for me. I want to do right by her and the fans. My mom has read some of the stuff I wrote for it. She’s fired up.”
Background and original run
Sinners premiered earlier in 2025. During that initial theatrical run, its IMAX screenings were reduced when Disney’s Thunderbolts occupied IMAX screens approximately two weeks after Sinners opened. Consequently, some viewers did not get a chance to see Sinners in the IMAX format during the first run. Now, the one-week engagement beginning Oct. 30 restores that option in select theaters.
Additional reporting on the engagement first appeared in the Variety report. Polygon has also reached out to Warner Bros. for confirmation but, as of the Variety report, had not heard back.
